Redd destroyed my items...

I had to put some items down quickly the other day and dumped them in town square and apparently right where Redd puts his tent. I didn't think about it at the time, so I was surprised when I saw Redd the next day and horrified when I noticed all my items around his tent. I tried quitting without saving, and then TTing back, but I guess that doesn't work when I had already logged into my character. I only lost two items that can easily be replaced, but I had no idea this could happen. Redd literally destoyed my stuff with his tent.

Yeah that happened to me too with my silver tools

I don't know why he does that

I was honestly hoping the game just tucked them under the tent and they'd be there if he left.

those items should show up in the lost and found section in the Police Station, if you have it built in your town

Yes, they should all pop up in your police station, but probably not until the next day so if it happened today and you don't see them, just wait until tomorrow.

I figured something like that would happen during events and such, so I always made sure to put my silver tools directly against the border where the big tree grows, on the side opposite where Redd's tent appears.

But if they do show up at the lost and found that's pretty cool.

It could take a while before they appear though, i once had this issue too with 2 golden tools. Now i have a golden shovel and golden watering can in my Police Station. It looked so cool, i decided to buy new tools from the forum and keep my own tools in the Police Station!

they will still be there even if you build your police station after they were lost/

I think once in one of my towns I lost items this way and I didn't have the police station but once I built it they appeared sometime after. I'm not 100% sure for that scenario but your items should show up!!

Before my guest town became a real town I left Easter and Halloween items in the event plaza.
7 months later the town became a real one and the police station got built. All the items showed up.
The first day it was full and on the 2nd day I got the last items.
