I love that during events that we can unlock new reactions for completing certain milestones, but personally I think at least a third permanent reaction would be quite useful (a laugh / funny reaction) to complement the like and heart ones we have now.

What are your thoughts?

While I'd like more reactions, I can see why only two have been chosen. Laugh reacts can be used and abused as a method of trolling, angry reacts could be used for trolling or creating heated arguments.

I guess if a lot of people like/love your post, it means they agree with you or you've just posted an absolutely fire joke 👌🏻🔥

I’m happy without the laughing emoji. It can be used for trolling and I see nothing good coming out of it. You can express laughter through replies if you really feel the need to do so. I don’t think any more than the two we have are needed.

I've been thinking for quite a while that I'd like to see a 😭 or 😢 react, the first one is more versatile and flexible though I suppose that gives room for misinterpretation. but it can work for sad or happy/funny things, so I could see it being useful.

but I definitely can't see a laughing react happening, that could really be used in the wrong way.

I personally would prefer a few more, like a sad one, a laughing one for when i think something is funny and that way i dont have the need to post a post of “hahahaha” 🤣 and maybe also a heart one for when i really love something.

But yeah in a nutshell i would prefer more options to express myself

Just my personal opinion, not necessarily The Official TBT Stance™:

I'm not thrilled by the idea of people leaving laughing reacts with the intent to insult, or others misinterpreting them and feeling insulted when it was never meant that way. Sounds like a lot of meaningless drama waiting to happen and I admit that I have too many hobbies, but dealing with that's not one of them.

I honestly have zero issues with expressing that I liked a funny post by using a like button, and I doubt that this could be ambiguous to the person receiving it.

I 100% am with the sentiment of not wanting to add a react that could be used disingenuously or to troll, so am not quite sure yet what would be a 3rd react to achieve that and also productively add to the two we already have, but it's something I'm now thinking about 🤔

Also my personal opinion, not necessarily The Official TBT Stance™:

You guys are spot on about the potential abuses of a laugh or angry react being exactly why we left those out originally when reactions were introduced.

That being said, I do agree with the concept that it would be nice to add something more. I’m just not sure what exactly.

I agree with what others have said about the laugh and angry reactions, but I would also like to extend that to all reactions with faces. Any facial reaction can be taken out of context and can lead to bullying or trolling. That being said...I would like more reactions than Like and Love. Like I've already said, Like and Love are non-facial reactions so they are acceptable. However, there are many posts I have simply not Liked of Loved (many such examples in threads like Whats Bothering You) because some users are going through a lot and it would be rude of me to "Like" that. So...I would like to give an example of a reaction that could be added.

Shine Reaction (⭐️)
This reaction could be used to uplift users going through a lot or brighten someone's day.
Instead of Liking or Loving a post. A Shining post can give encouragement to the user.

You don't necessarily have to use my example but something like this could be a better alternative to facial reactions and more diversity to the reaction bar.

I personally would like to see a laughing one, but like other have already mentioned it could be abused, which some people could get upset about and it could cause more work/drama for mods.

Maybe tbt could one day making their own love like and celebratory emojis

I can understand why a laughing react wouldn't be the best idea. I love the Camp TBT reacts though; I think it'd be cool if we could have 1 permanent react that is in a similar vein. Maybe a gyroid or like... a turnip? Maybe we could have a limited amount to use per day?

Yeah I think any of the face emoji could be misused, sadly—even "" can be used in a passive-aggressive or nasty way. ;; For the reasons discussed I don't think a laughing react is a good idea, but part of me feels like "😭" would be a good alternative? Like @/xSuperMario64x said, it seems versatile enough to be good for a lot of different contexts.
I'm also wondering if it would be possible to disable certain reacts or reacts altogether for the What's Bothering You thread specifically, since that seems the most likely problem area for react abuse. But I don't know if that's at all doable/feasible from a coding standpoint.

Maybe a hug like "🫂" could be a good sympathy one? I also like the idea of a congratulatory/"heck yeah"/"^this" kind of react like a crown, star, or trophy/medal. Sometimes I do worry about people misunderstanding me if I do a sympathy Like or something, so I think that a wider range of reacts allows for more nuance/better expression of meaning, but I understand that it's tricky territory too.

The variety of reacts at camp is also just very fun, and I just wanted to say that the little shooting star "wished upon" react seems super sweet? ;w; I kind of love it and wish it could stay around.

I love the variety that comes with the camp reactions. I dont necessarily need a laugh or cry reaction but a couple more varied reactions would be really nice to have!

Maybe some of the ones on Discord?

I read that the laughing emote could be used negatively and I still cannot understand how. Can someone give me an example as to how the laughing emote could be used to insult a poster ?

Let's say you make a thread about how you're devastated about losing your favourite villager in your Animal Crossing town (or say your entire island save) and someone thinks you're being dramatic or is just a mean person, so they drop a laughing reaction on your post.

Obviously, this can be dealt with by moderation, but you can imagine we don't really want to start getting reports about reactions haha.
