re-started my island

I had TT'd a lot previously and it kind of just ruined the game for me(nothing outrageous, but a lot of back and forth TTing) and just felt bored with it so I re-started today and I'm so happy. any other time travelers get that feeling ever?

I did! I was just breezing by day by day to get bridges/inclines to build, characters to move out so I can sell them for tickets. It just made me disconnect from the game and become bored with it.

On my first file, I wasn't planning to time travel but lost patience and did so to help move buildings faster and get bridges/inclines up. I felt so guilty and disconnected from my game after that, that I ended up restarting (also for a few other reasons, but the time travel certainly pushed me to wanting to restart) with the intent of playing at a natural pace from now on, regardless of how impatient I feel. This current playthrough has felt so much more satisfying

Yee, I restarted - though not because of time travel, I just hated the map I was on (I mean, to an extent) - I ended up wanting to be super particular about river mouth placement, the placement (and size) of rocky outcrops on beaches. Honestly for me restarting made me feel great about the island I (eventually) ended up picking.

I still TT - but only to catch up with real time (so it takes roughly 14 days to unlock everything so I'm kind of playing 14 days prior until I catch up). After that, I'll probably just TT to move building / build bridges or inclines quicker, like I've done in the past. That doesn't bother me too much.

I sort of get it..but not really.

Like most of you, I TT to get stuff built faster, but I only do it within the current week that IRL calendar is in, making sure to never go back further than the previous Sunday, or past the upcoming Saturday. Let's say I get to a Saturday, and I need something built. I will rewind back to the Sunday before, and continue to move forward from there - so replaying the same week over and over again.

This keeps me in check, as I can still explore new events and seasons as they happen naturally, but still gives me something new each time I log in. Sundays are when the week "resets" itself, so when I travel back to a Sunday and move forward day by day, Nook's Cranny always has new items, so little things to look forward too.

I'm barely even done with my island and I TT a lot. I guess I do TT but it's never to gain advantage, just sellin' dreamies for people. It's why I'm not bored or felt my experience soiled. (Also, I'm having a blast stalking my villagers.) THERE IS A TIME, however, I question my sanity when I try to resume terraforming the Pokemon map project I started. Not to the point of restarting but rather asking myself if it was really worth doing. LMAO.

Though, I'm glad you got your peace of mind. TTing too much is kinda exhausting ngl!

This is my only problem with time travelling - I do too much too fast! I am happy that I saved all the really labor intensive stuff, and that they allow you to move your buildings and homes. I unlocked basically everything, but now I'm moving things around using those tools. My island looked like poop before yesterday.

I TT'd until I got terraforming, which I actually don't regret! I much prefer not to TT as I felt really disconnected from my town/villagers, and I lost that excitement of awaiting the next day. But I felt really frustrated with my town without terraforming (finding spots for bridges was a nightmare), so I'm glad that I rushed for it.

I played like this in New Leaf, I never really grew attached to any town. In New Horizons I restarted because I regretted my island decisions and the game wasn't even out for a month. Then for 10 days I played through all the days I already played through to catch up. I'll be honest, it's a lot of fun to just play like this but you're also missing out on the experience. There are people who play through the season and to each their own (though spoiling others about upcoming seasons and such is really ****ty) , but what are they going to to when it is fall or winter?

I restarted my island, but I specifically let myself start on the release date (like I actually did) and I'm TT up to the present day. I'm having so much fun and I'm even more attached to my island now than I was to my previous island. Granted, I did already unlock everything except for the museum upgrade before I restarted, but I still had a feeling of accomplishment.

Right now I'm stuck trying to get the sakura DIYs. I'm having such a hard time getting those and I don't know why. But, I'm tracking my own stalk market now using stalk.io and having a blast! My husband is letting me drop turnips at his island while I manipulate time and I'm not buying more than 50k bells of turnips at a time, but it is a blast! I'm on the Friday before the fishing tourney and I'm stopping there for a while so I can do all the Bunny Day DIYs, get the bronze trophy for the tourney, and try to get the rest of the sakura blossom DIYs. After those special events are done, I should be able to catch up to the present day in a few days.

When I played “New Leaf,” and made the decision to bring an end to a given town, and replace it with a new one, what did it for me was realizing that that town which needed to go had to get eliminated because it wasn’t working out for me.

I had a nice town which I called Love. I had the villagers on the north side and my humans on the south side. It did not have a continuous beach.

I had that type of town with ACNLpics, my museum-themed town with four humans having their houses dedicated to displaying the pictures of regular villagers and special characters.

That worked.

It worked for ACNLpics because, with the humans’ houses in the south, it felt like the town had purpose. That there was reason for the humans’ museum-like houses to be in an area separate from the villagers.

With Love, there was no reason to divide.

I found Love to be an eventual drag. In between other towns, I held it for two years. Thank goodness for “Welcome amiibo!” I was able to retain the millions of bells acquired, plus whatever the value of the town (around 50 million), and that carried me over to its replacement town.

Ultimately, the choice to restart comes from recognizing the current town (in “New Horizons” it is an island) is no longer personally working for the gameplayer who is giving his/her personal time to personally play the game.

The only thing I would caution with is this: Know what you are doing. And please do not fall into a habit of resetting. You could get carried away with this and become more interested in reboots, however often, than in creating and building—and, of course, enjoying playing.

I can understand to a certain extent, but I think if I didn't have awful joycon drift I'd feel differently since it really takes away what I can do in the game sadly.. for now I'm just going to wait until I can get them fixed hopefully
