Oh yeah! I just meant in general. Lots of people who are like “you have no taste” or “you’re not original if you have any popular villagers” are sort of what I mean.

It’s wild to me because in this game.... you’re island is going to be unique regardless! No one has the exact same layout and patterns and you can even make your villagers more unique by giving them items and phrases and all that!

Also, I misspelled his name as Ratmond once so that’s what my friends and I call him now. VwV

Yes! I agree. It's your island, do as you please. I 100% think people shouldn't be judgemental towards others for anything to do with any game. Your game. Your choice.

I really like him, he has a cool unique design and I just love cats. I don't really care about the hype surrounding him, it's just funny to me.

I kinda like him?? His design is simple and nice, I see the appeal. Not sure if I would invite him to my island tho - I already have two cats which I adore.
However the problem is not Raymond himself. He's just a villager like anyone else, you either like him or dislike. The problem is people trying to make a big profit selling him.
But it's just my opinion

Yes, it's a lot of fun how passionate younger people are about him and the things they do for him, it leads to some very hilarious situations. And I don't think people should be throwing out such a negative attitude just because some people enjoy a cat in a business suit, it's fun.

i've never really understood why people hate something because others enjoy it lol.
i mean, i'm not the craziest for raymond, i think he's cute and i would inv him to my island if i ran into him, but not a favorite of mine.

I liked him from when I first saw him, heterochromia, business cat, and a smug? Sign me tf up! although I was a bit disappointed when he started to become the most popular villager because now people are going to think I'm basic and just following the hype like with marshal, oh well. I have Raymond, marshal, lolly, and a lot of other popular villagers but I don't care because I enjoy them and I'll have whatever villagers I want. I'm just glad I have amiibo cards so I don't have to spend a disgusting amount just to get the villagers I want! (mostly)

For me his appeal is his eyes and his little fangs! His eyes remind me of Obanai/Todoroki & there's a running inside joke that he looks like Wonwoo from Seventeen (lol)

I can't understand the extreme love/hate though for the extreme love, its uncomfortable to see, and for the extreme hate it just gives me "I'm edgy cause I don't follow the hype" vibe? Though I can (to an extent) respect people's views on him.

I feel the opposite in regard to his design.

I love plain, bland designs. They're the most natural looking ones. Bill is a great example of that. Fang, Megan, Walker, Molly... They're all very simple, and that's their appeal for me.

Raymond on the other hand screams "forced" and "tryhard". It's like he was design to appeal to kpop stans and furries. He also has an "aura" that reminds me of people I don't like in real life. And I really commend the designers because they managed to pull off something that's really difficult: give personality to a character using only their design.

LMAO saaaad I am the kpop audience they appealed to u_u though you would think they would try to do this with chrissy/francine who are the idols of animal crossing!

I like Raymond himself sorta, his smile basically it what makes me like him - the fangs (and his double wave) makes me think "cute" but that's where it ends. When they released pics of the new villagers I didn't even look at him twice, thought he was ugly;;

I refuse to let popular opinion sway my opinion. It doesn't matter to me if other people love or hate him. I don't understand the strong feelings.

I think he's cute. He's not my favorite smug villager, but if I found him in my campsite or on a Nook Miles island, I would invite him to my village. Not to sell him, but to see how he would fit in on my village. In that hypothetical situation, if I were to get bored of him, I don't know what I would do, but I wouldn't sell or auction him.

I like him and his personality is so bright contrast to what he looks like (serious-looking guy with a glare) he's polite like most smugs but he's just so...happy? I can't hate him. Also, he looks like my BF but skinny.

I would never trade him for anyone. I love him too much even if he likes Marshal more.

Honestly at first I was like wow omg it's an office cat with heterochromia. When I actually got him it was kinda meh, he wasn't that great. But now I've started to like him for smaller things like his cute smile and his little fangs showing when he waves, he's adorable.

also I think it's kinda funny how Raymond always says things like 'Ohh, I want this vaulting pole too, I don't care about vaulting - I just want to have the latest cool thing.' me when I was looking for raymond
Or that he wants to be famous, my dude I think you reached that goal.
