Have you had raymond before this? the document I've read on campsite tricks says you shouldn't have any duplicates on your first campsite method for a personality. Only after you cycle thru the whole personality number you will start getting repeats! I've been doing campsite method too right now, and went thru 20 snooties and other random villagers with no repeats yet.

No I havn't seen or had Raymond before that's why I was posting in the first place I thought it was unusual and I was right so far today I've had 4 more repeat smugs I really don't know what's gone wrong?

The campsite method is basically way to use the way the campsite works and time travel to get a specific villager you want. I wouldn't be the best at explaining in better detail because I'm being chill about what villagers I'm getting, but here's a google doc that goes into detail about some of the datamined information about the campsite and how to do the method to try and get those dreamies you may be going for:

Edit: Campsite method is the better way to go if you're trying for Raymond than Nook tours. The google doc breaks it down, but you'd have a 1.8% chance for Raymond to appear in the campsite and a 0.124% chance with Nook tours, so much better odds.

Sorry if this is in wrong place this is my first time. Ok here's my problem I've been using the campsite method to get Raymond I have no smugs on my island and at least 1 of every other personality. I have been doing this for 4 days straight now and rather than give me Raymond it is repeating smug villagers what am I doing wrong should I keep going or give it up as a dead loss?

I joined this site in November 2013.

It was three months after I bought “Animal Crossing: New Leaf.” In fact, I still have my original town, Applewin.

In early-2014, I took notice of a chase to get the desired villagers. They included Julian, Rosie, Stitches, Merengue and, of course, Marshal.

Here in May 2020, pushing two months since the release of “Animal Crossing: New Horizons,” the hot character—an islander—to get is Raymond.

I have thought about whether I will try to get him. Right now, my islanders are: Teddy, Katt, Erik, Bonbon, Lucha, Whitney, Tom, Octavian, Molly, and Marshal. But, more than possibly getting Raymond, what I think I need to do is part ways with a male and replace with a female villager for a 5-to-5 balance in males and females.

Audie may come to my island before Raymond.

This is quite something,.

Anyway, I hope you don’t mind my adding a comment that you may not have been looking for as any kind of answer.

Ok last update I spammed campsite all afternoon and after Quillson turned up 3 times I decided to move out cat villager and just when I finally decided to cut my losses and quit Raymond moved into vacant house! I couldn't be happier but this has been a long week of trying lol! Thanks for your encouragement and thanks for listening to my mad rambles!

I've been doing it all evening too, sadly other villagers aside from smug ones turned up, too, although I've got every character represented.
I've got no duplicates though.

Thanks! Keep at it I know how disheartening and boring it is. I was at it for roughly 8 days in total. I'm just bummed that he ended up being random move in when I was ready to call it a day lol. Guess he wanted to make his own big entrance Anyway I'm sure youll get what you want if you keep going. Now I've got to get my island back to normal again stupid weeds!

wait... you got him as a random move in???? i think i understand what happened here but i'm not 100% sure ofc, you probably acquired him from a void or something? because it looks like he's in a queue so that's why he was not showing up on campsite.

the same thing happened recently for a user looking for Judy (used the campsite method for a while to no avail, then Judy moved into a vacant lot), so this might be worth looking into

I honestly lucked out and got him through mystery island tours. Spent about 56k nook miles on tickets and got him on my second to last ticket. To answer Ronya's question. The method is when you have no personality type of a particular villager in your town the campsite will have a greater chance of hosting villagers of that personality type.

The void is the place where moved out villagers go for a few days. There was/is a bug you could received a voided villager when online playing. No adoption required just needed an empty plot.

So there is only "a greater chance"? I thought if you have every other personalities the game only offers smug villagers.

I had no smugs in my town when doing campsite and between every smug in camp was at least 2-3 other personality types so it only bumps up chance by a bit I think I read that it was 60% chance of smug.

I started this (haven't finished yet). Out of 23 campers, 15 were peppy. So, it increases the odds greatly.

Yeah I saw every smug more than once except Raymond when they started repeating I nearly lost it lol I even had a few peppy's repeat.
