6/10

What was I thinking, this song bangs, it’s at least a 7.5/10

3/10, sorry, it was just really repetitive and felt like it was leading up to something that ended up being nonexistent. I haven’t played that game though, so maybe it fits in context.

You ended up making the same point I did before, about sharing video game music!

Good music is more universal, but almost all video game music is tied to the gameplay and your memories combining sounds, visuals, and physical interactions with the game... that's why the songs are memorable. But when it comes to sound only...

I am giving the last song posted a 4/10. I have no gameplay reference and this just sounds horrible. Sorry!

6/10. I respectfully disagree, I feel like most video game songs I listen to (which is a lot since I pretty much exclusively listen to vgm lol) can sound fine on their own and without any gameplay. This is evident by the fact that most of the songs I’ve posted in this thread were ones I’d previously heard before playing the games they were from and thought they were good, and people in this thread haven’t played any of them and they give them good ratings. Plus, some bad games have really good osts, meaning a vgm can sound good even if you don’t have fun gameplay to tie it to. But that’s just my opinion, and obviously you’re entitled to your own, it’s just that I think it’s probably taste related.
