Rant >:(

you can ONLY make them move if they have already packed, and ready to leave, then you have to go to their house and talk to them until you get the option to invite the villager to your town, it?s the ONLY way..

Very clearly explained, thanks Forgotten!

Anyway, it's nice to know about town visiting etiquete. Does it vary a lot? Did the person know about your "rules"?

It does vary a lot, I think. I have no rules. If my gates open, you can pretty much come in and do want you want. I don't open my gate until I've bought whatever I want in the shops and usually I go and collect the money rock first too, but if I forgot I really don't care if someone hits rocks. There will be a new one tomorrow and if I'm hard up for bells I can go to the island. If there's fruit on the trees they can take it. I only ever had a problem with someone once who decided to shakes ALL of my perfect fruit trees after I'd already given him baskets of fruit and I just reset before he could exit, but even that was not really that big a deal if he'd managed to leave before I could do that. There's more fruit in three days.

In return, most of my visitors contribute to my public works projects and sometimes fund them completely.

To be honest, I haven't traded friendcodes with anyone in this forum because all of my friends are from another forum where people seem a lot more easy-going about what occurs in their towns and I just don't want to create any issues with those who have more rules. They make me scratch my head though. Virtually nothing is permanent in the game. Fruit grows back, you can plant more trees, there's another money rock tomorrow, there's more stuff than we can inventory in the shops and pitfalls are temporary. The only real issue I can see is the grass deterioration and hybrid flowers, but I resolve one by laying tons of paths to run on lol

Just play it safe and leave their town as you found it, unless they give you explicit permission to do otherwise. Even then, you should double-check. Screenshot it as well.

Stealers suck :/ I was trading with someone, I dropped my 7-11 BBQ bed for him to pick and when he picked it up someone came into my gates causing game to save, then the guy I was trading with left and refused to pay me for the item >.<

Anyway, it's nice to know about town visiting etiquete. Does it vary a lot? Did the person know about your "rules"?

My one and only rule is posted on a signboard outside of my train station. It is to please not run. The only reason I have the rule is that I have a lot of flowers everywhere, and if you do not know the town layout, you can easily run into them and destroy them.

This is why I always make sure I'm done with my daily tasks (e.g. fruit picking, fossil finding, etc) for the day when people come over. Nothing is ever left out unless I don't mind them taking it - otherwise it'll just seem like a free for all!

I recently had someone come to my town I met through an AC:NL chat room. They came in, we traded and they asked to check my stores out. I said sure and let them out of my sight. I then came back to find that most of my rare and foreign fruit trees were cut down, special design stumps dug up. Fossils stolen, coin rock and more. I didn't of course notice this until the "someone is leaving" message had run across my screen.

Know what I did? Went to my storage, got one of each fruits lost, planted and time traveled. BAM. No harm done. If you do not trust someone, you should not be letting them have an intimate IP connection period. Even just everyday trades with people met here are at your own risk, so get to know thy neighbor!

I've added a few people on here but haven't opened my gates yet or visited anyone, I'm still trying to get my town organized and looking nice.
When I do decide to open my gates I am only letting in people I know, and when I visit other people's towns I won't destroy or steal anything. I'm not that kind of person in real life so not gonna do it in the game either, it's just rude and people should learn to respect other people's towns, when you get invited to someone's town the person who invited you obviously is trusting you not to wreak havoc in their town. I'm sure they wouldn't like it if someone went and stole from their town.

honestly i dont feel sorry for the OP

Me neither.

By having your gates open, you are inviting everyone who has access to your town into your town.
You can simply talk to Porter and tell him to close the gates to new visitors while you are doing the trade, then open them up for the next trader and then so forth.

Just delete people you are done trading with off your friend's list. I've had someone steal 5 blue roses from me before so now I just delete your FC once I'm done with you.

This is why I only let one player in at a time. I usually have a best friend list & I have the option to open gates for my best friend list ONLY. It's really helpful & I haven't had anyone ruin my town or disrupt it since!

Sorry to hear about your bad experience tho :/

This is one of the few reasons I haven't let anyone in my town for weeks. Some of the others reasons include I don't think my town is ready yet, and Nintendo still haven't fixed the issues with the constant wi-fi errors.

I didn't know that you could close your gates to others after one person came in to trade... Thanks for the tip!

It's a shame that happened to you but the best way to avoid it is to keep your items in storage while your gates are open, and once you've finished doing trades delete them. Better yet, if you're not expecting anyone for a trade or a friend to hang out in your village, keep your gates closed! :3

That's too bad that this happened :(
Just think of the bright side though, its all things that can be replaced, just don't let it get under your skin.
I let people into my town all the time, I like to think that they will respect my town because I would respect theirs, if they done? cool, least I know to not play with them again.
Just don't let it ruin your experience. :) x

I usualy delete people after a trade, don't leave stuff you care about on the ground, and if anything goes wrong just flick the wireless switch and you'll revert to last save. Nothing has gone bad for me so far.

I didn't know you could close the gates after someone comes without sending them home. None of the previous titles [that could wifi] had that capability. Some of those who do not have sympathy should probably walk in the other's shoes.

that's a terrible shame. I play online with a lot of people. though it makes me think. of course I generally only leave flowers out. and buried stuff. (if they dig stuff up, its pretty darned obvious) though I got to say. I wish the single target kick and maybe town bans were available. just to insta delete someone from your 3ds.

Wow, I'm so sorry this happened to you! :( That's why you probably shouldn't leave your gates open. You never know what can happen. That's why, when I allow visitors, I will have a rule sheet and if no one wants to follow it they just shouldn't visit. :(
I don't know why there are so many mean people that would do something like that. They think money is everything...but I guess it's just how some people are. I really wish people would respect each other, though. I mean, I don't think the person that stole from you would want you to do that to their town, would they?
Sorry if I went on a rant there...I'm just so upset that people do this. :(
