I very recently discovered Nookazon and I must say it's been a godsend. I can get items, DIYs and materials in literal seconds. It's been a great way to get collect the things I need so I can work towards that 5 star rating.
My island is camping themed, and the last item I needed for my campsite area was a campfire cookware. I logged on to Nookazon and saw someone was selling it for their wishlist items. The only thing I could offer to trade off their wishlist was a fish print (the one you get from the fishing tourney from CJ). I had it lying on the ground at my swap shop by the airport entrance, so I grabbed it and went on my way. She gave me the cookware, I gave her the print. All was good.
Nookazon utilizes Discord and having never used it before, I've been learning how to navigate it. I actually forgot that people can message you on Discord through Nookazon, as I'd only been communicating with people through open offers on the actual Nookazon site. The person who I traded the campfire cookware with yesterday messaged me on Discord saying they asked for the squid print and I gave them the bass one. Having forgotten that Nookazon is linked to my discord, I didn't see their message. They gave me a 1 star review and said that I traded them an entirely different item than what they asked for and that they'd tried to contact me but I wouldn't respond. I spent the next several minutes figuring out how to contact them and then it dawned on me that I had to go on discord. I opened their message at 8pm and felt terrible.
I apologized to them for my lack of communication and explained that I'm new to Nookazon and Discord and don't fully understand how to use it yet. I said that the fish print is customizable and they can change it to a squid if they like. I also asked that they revoke their 1 star review as I didn't think it was fair they gave me 1 star when I gave them the item they asked for. Maybe a 3 or 4 would be appropriate since I missed that they wanted the squid but even then it takes only 1 customization kit to change it. They went on to say that they asked for a squid print and I gave them a bass without telling them that it was a bass, and that it was more the principle of me not being honest with them and giving them a different item than what they asked for. They kept bringing up that I didn't respond even though I already apologized for it considering my lack of experience with the site. I offered to customize it for them and they're going to take me up on the offer in the morning, but they kept going on about how I should have customized it for them if it takes 'so few kits'.
I'm still not sure why this person is making such a big deal about a video game trade, for an item they asked for with slight modifications that can be changed for 1 kit... they keep bringing up the 'principle' of me not telling them it was a bass print when they asked for a squid. I didn't even see that until they pointed it out and maybe that was negligent on my part, but every time I had traded a customizable item (both ways) with someone that has alterations, it's never a big deal. The fish print is a rare item and I gave it to her in exchange for a common item you can get at Nook's... now I only have a 3 star rating on Nookazon and I'm so upset. Feel free to give your take on this whole exchange, I'm just sorta exasperated. In all my hundreds of trades this is my first 1 star and I don't know if I can get it revoked. Oh well.
