I'm interested to see what people's personality tier lists would be! I know everyone hates jock but apart from that it's hard to tell what people think of the different personalities. oh and I also know people aren't fond of smugs which hurts very muchly as I adore them :(

The personalities I like, I really like in NH; but, the personalities I hate, I don't like at all. The villager designs save the bad ones for me, but I didn't factor that into my ranking.

There are plenty of people who don;t hate jocks. Just because you don;t like them is no reason to assume others feel the same..

Lazy and Sisterly/Uchi used to be my two favorite personalities. But I found that Sisterly/Uchi are a bit lacking in this game, and the Lazies are now slobs and keep talking about bugs in their house and how dirty their shirts are.

I actually have to say Normal is my favorite in this game, followed by Snooty.

I also find it ironic that the Snooties were extremely mean back in the day, but now they’re heartwarmingly sweet and always say things like how you’re their dear friend! Despite the irony, I love that a lot.

In New Horizons my list would be really different to New Leaf.
NH:

I almost wrote off having a peppy after the first one got on my nerves so much, I loved the Peppies in New Leaf so it was weird, but I ended up with Audie and I actually really love her. Lazy is the biggest fifference for me, I know people don’t seem to like the shift but I think they’re much funnier and more eccentric than in New Leaf, I like the bug thing, it’s no more annoying than the Peppy pop star thing or the Jock muscle fixation, and at least it means they talk about more than just snacks. I wonder if I’d get on with them better now if I revisited New Leaf.

1. Peppy

I never, ever liked Peppy villagers that much before this game. But the writers made them into bigger nerds - Ketchup references video games and comics a lot - and they seem to be really affectionate, too. Today it was a thunderstorm and Ketchup told me that if I was getting too wet I could hang out at her place. My heart ;A;

2. Cranky

Cranky villagers like to point out the weird stuff you do but in a concerned paternal way. Cranky villagers are more likely to notice you burying money and ask if you're okay. It's nice to have a gruff older dude watch you do bizarre things and, not in a judgmental way, ask "You good kid? Are you actually good?"

3. Jock

I love jocks! I love a friendly himbo! Someone asked Kody what he actually intends to do once he gets ripped and he said he wants to use his big muscles to help everyone. It actually feels healing to interact with a fitness focused dude who isn't in it to sneer on physically weak people, that is genuinely doing it for himself/to be helpful to others. Because fitness dudes are so rarely like that in real life.

4. Uchi

I used to love Uchi villagers to pieces for being gruff with a heart of gold - and they still are! But in this game they seem really cold and distant. Agnes is my favorite and she's always acting annoyed that I want to talk to her so much

5. Snooty

Nothing a snooty villager has said to me in this game has stood out yet. They should make the Uchis nicer and the Snootys way more mean. Snooties are supposed to be mean.

6. Lazy

I wish I could get to the weird stoner dialogue with Lazies that I've seen in screenshots - like the moments they figure out in a video game - but all the lazies reference around me is bugs. Maybe I need to make more of an effort to befriend them.

7. Normal

They seem more elitist AND boring this time around. You know the girls that draw those "Me vs The Other Girls" cartoons where they seem to boast about being boring? That's Normal villagers in this game.

8. Smug

They really had to give the most flirtatious, creepy dialogue to the most ugly set of character designs in the whole game. They just had to do that, huh. I'm firmly convinced that people are obsessed with the "prettier" Smug villagers - like Raymond, Marshal, and Julian - because otherwise their weird comments about dreaming about you FIRST THING IN THE MORNING would be absolutely unbearable. I kicked Klaus off my island, leaving me Smug free, and I don't regret it.

I was just kidding, definitely have seen some jock supporters. I just said "nobody likes jocks" because that's what the vast majority of people usually vote for on "least favourite personality" polls lol

also uchi is placing low on a lot of your lists, time for a crusade

I liked the female types when they were sassier, ruder. I liked when Uchi were cold at first, but became sweet after befriending. I think snooty characters are way too nice overall, especially to other villagers. Normal is way too plain for me... I know I'm singling out the ladies here, but it's out of love. Snooty and Uchi used to be my favorites, now they feel like they're diluted with Normal personality... Not a fan, especially Uchi.
