Random thoughts thread. (New Horizons)

I had a gold shovel in WW because all you had to do was bury it, and I've had golden slingshots, and the gold axe in CF. I never did get a gold fishing rod despite having caught every single fish in WW because I'd end up restarting my town. I think mainly the gold tools in NH are for show but they should have been made completely durable.

I remember getting some bits and bobs of hacked items in CF and by now if I was still playing any of the old ones I'd no doubt want mods on them too.

I had some random thoughts today but after reading the posts I plum forgot. 'tweren't nothin' important though.

It's actually even worst. You can't customize the gold tool with the customization kits like the regular tools. So you can't reset the durability which makes regular tools better in all ways. And the gold tools in the older games actually had cool features since none of the regular tools broke besides the ax. The golden ax specialty was it wouldn't break.
The just proves my point even further. The golden tools are a massive step down from the ones in previous games. It can even be argued that they are a step down from REGULAR tools in NH, considering they cannot be customized.

Yeah, I’ll work on getting the DIY’s for them eventually, but I’m not bothering with getting the actual golden tools in NH.

@Shawna You do get Nook Mile achievements for crafting each of the gold tools once. I don't know if you plan on completing them all, but it is necessary to craft them if you want to. With that said, it did take me forever to get around to crafting the cards I do have. I think I still need the ax and fishing rod. I could never catch the mahi-mahi. So it was never mah-hine :(

Good luck with your gold diy hunt!

@-Blue-

I was not aware of that. I definitely do want to get as many nook mile achievements as I can so I probably will be crafting the tools after all. However, I’ll probably just keep them forever and not use them. ^_^

That's pretty much what I did. It still took me forever to get around to crafting the gold diy I had obtained. Probably years after, until I decided to finish some of the miles. And they're tucked away in storage somewhere. It would be cool if we could display them on the wall like a mantle. Sort of like you can do in Link's house in Botw.

I think you can actually place tools in your house and on your island, so I may actually do one of those ^_^

Yeah, you can place tools--I did that all the time, make up about ten fishing rods and place them where I could grab one easily when I needed it. Now I just haul around a crafting table but I still place my watering cans.

I just discovered the Handy Construction Skills on the Island Decorating App. It's very handy indeed. Can't begin to tell you how many times my character drifted while I was decorating.

I was initially going to turn the basement of my beach-themed house into a coral reef under the sea with shells, but since I had a hard time obtaining shell recipes, I decided to turn it into an underwater ship’s observatory like in science fiction movies.

All animals of the same personality type have the same voice: bass-voiced tiny creatures like hamsters and chimps; squeaky huge creatures like gorillas and bears. It's weird.

The other day my son brought my fruits. He didn't talk to the villagers, just dropped them off. Today Anicotti asked if I thought he'd visit again. #Thoughts have wings.

I may have to give a call to my old friend Resetti. Shoveling all those flowers one-by-one, is not only tedious, but you go through shovels FAST.

This goes for all AC games (excluding Wild World - it apparently does not have it), but I never understood why the basement is not treated as an actual room and is only treated as a "storage" room. It is also apparently excluded from the HRA scoring from what I've read.

I can understand this for the Game Cube version, considering the storage execution in that game is atrocious--people could just fill that room with dressers and use them all for storage. Granted, I believe the Deluxe mod I installed improves upon this, but I have to consider the vanilla game.

But in City Folk? New Leaf? And New Horizons? I don't understand it. We have a proper storage system in these three games, so I never understood the reason to have a perfectly functional downstairs NOT function as an actual room or NOT be counted towards the HRA. Despite this, I am still treating these as actual rooms. It would be a waste of furniture sets to not to.

For example, I currently have my main room in New Horizons themed with the mermaid furniture. But when I get my downstairs and get the cute-themed furniture I need for my main room, I will be moving my mermaid furniture to my downstairs. The mermaid furniture has an under the sea vibe, so I think having it for my downstairs room would be fitting. The same goes for my New Leaf town. As for my Game Cube and City Folk towns, I am thinking of having the classic series for my downstairs.

Just a few more days left until the grass makes a re-appearance for the Northern Hemisphere. Can't wait!
I know! ^_^
I can't wait to catch and donate a coelacanth in NH! ^_^

I always make sure to kick in any holes I dug to make the shovels last longer. You can even do that with huge trees--kick in the dirt, stand directly in front of where you want the tree to go then plop it down. Moving flowers you have to stand directly over where you want them.

I got to see just a little bit of that while TTing for a couple of campsite villagers, and I saw there are a few days of beyond horror between snow and green--looked almost JUST like it does all winter where I live unless we get some snow. I look very forward to the green in my game, and aside from maybe making a few more snowboys have no intentions of going full-on winter in my game again.

I AM FINALLY DONE WITH THE HOTEL AND HAVE COMPLETED ALL 3 NOOK MILE HOTEL ACHIEVEMENTS

This was by far the most repetitive and painful thing I've ever had to deal with, especially with Kapp'n DIY requests. I will never craft shell or cardboard items again. This took way too long, and the amount of materials I had to have was driving me crazy.

I don't know what I'm going to do with the rest of the Hotel Tickets, as I wish there were some way I could share some of them, but too bad, that's not even an option. To answer anyone's questions, you don't get any special rewards other than just having yet another Nook Mile achievement. I am never doing this again, and all those materials I worked so hard to get over the years are going to take me a long while to get back.
