Random question about the museum

I know it's probably just decoration but in the prehistoric fossils section there are silhouettes of villagers on top of the exhibits. Is there a meaning behind this I've always found this strange

I think it's supposed to show which dinosaurs the animals are related to? Or from which they evolved from, something like that.
