Questions about patterns/paths

I've got two questions I can't get answered, when I google it I can find both yes' and no's, can anyone help me?


1. Do patterns on your ground (pathways) prevent grass deterioration?
2. Do villagers not move in on the places where there are patterns on the ground?

As far as i know patterns do not prevent grass deterioration. And villagers do not plot on patterns ( they only do if there is no free space to plot).
