A lot of people have been having their games corrupt lately on FB and it's making me a bit paranoid.
I heard/know that it happens because people power down during the save screen, drop their 3DS by accident, the SD card gets too full, or it just happens. I've had it happen once, because I dropped my 3DS but I just lost my cycling town, which wasn't too big of a deal. Is there a definite reason for corruption? I have such bad luck and I feel like it's a matter of time until I lose a town I care about... I had someone tell me its if you reset too much when looking for a map or plot resetting. I barely plot reset to begin with? I know it's not just digital copies. :/

More or less asking because I had a weird dream where my towns were all corrupted and I couldn't even restart my games because the cartridges wouldn't let me. :(

I'm 99% sure that resetting doesn't have anything to do with it. I think it just happens when you turn your game off and reload, and it doesn't matter whether you save and quit or reset. Since everyone resets, 100% of people have resetted before their game corrupted. Which is like saying that you'll get hit by a bus if you breathe.

My town corrupted this morning after I saved and quit.

NOT HELPING

I've had more than one corruption nightmare. And when I woke up from them, I was more terrified than terrified. Now I'm scared to save at all! Because if you never save, you can't see the bad news, right? RIGHT?

I think resetting doesn't have much to do with it, to be honest. It sounds the same as quitting your game after saving. I think there's probably a number of reasons why the game would end up corrupted but I don't think resetting would do it.

I wonder if there's some way to backup your saves but it sounds like there isn't... there really should be.

I have a question about the "SD card being too full" thing, does that apply only to digital copies? Or does it apply to physical copies of the game as well?

Well if you don't save and your game freezes then you lose everything. So that's not an option.
But the game automatically saves and continues everytime you pass 6 AM and I don't think anyone's file has corrupted from that.

I purposely tried to corrupt my game once, popped out the game after it saved/during saving, literally everything that people said caused corruption and it never happened. So really I have no idea what causes it. To be honest I think it's either a defective whatever or something wrong with the person's DS.

I got a defective copy, but all four of my other carts work fine. I use a 2ds since I'm so paranoid, and it's worked for me c:

I think it only depends on whether your copy is defective or not. I've prayed everyday that my copy is not defective. I have a computer that can only hold 50GB, the computer can't read SD cards, I lost my pokemon game, I live in a small fricken apartment, and my sister stinks, THE LEAST THE WORLD COULD DO TO MAKE ME HAPPY IS NOT MAKE ME HAVE A DEFECTIVE COPY! -crie-
