Torrenting-- Is it "safe"? Like the authorities won't track you down, or you'll get any scary messages from anyone? :O I download songs on Frostwire, but I was just wondering how safe it would be to download torrents of other media like videos (not video games), using bittorrent or other sites. 'Cause I'd like to see Lost and 24, but I don't want to just go buy the DVD, and then turn out not really liking it. So I was wanting to perhaps see a few episodes from each show. Because I've heard they're supposed to be really good drama thriller-type shows, and I'm tired of trying to decide what I'm gonna do about it.

Depends whether or not you live in Britain. From what I hear, they really cracked down on piracy.

If you live in America, be sure not to google it. Googling certain phrases such as "daft punk torrent" or whatever can get you a stiff penalty.

I downloaded an episode already earlier today anyway. Took nearly 2 hours or over 2 hours, and because of the format, I can only watch it on my computer, not on my iPod like I'd planned. Can't convert it for some reason either. Oh well. I just wanted to see if these shows were good, for myself, anyway. Still haven't watched it, though. I will later though. If I end up liking it enough, I may buy it if I can get some money.

I've not heard anything like that, and I live in Britain O.o

Even if they wanted to, I doubt they'd be able to much if anything about it.

I know that in some countries it's really illegal, but then again, it doesn't really seem like a crime. You're just downloading a copied file. What's bad about it is if you take it, upload it again, then try to sell it or redistribute it. I just consider it: not buying the DVD, or "not buying the songs". Just another way. It can just be tricky/and or annoying sometimes, and not always the most convenient.

Yes torrenting is fine, its weird how it works but its not illegal to download, only to upload. I've been doing it for a long time now and never have any problems. Also, yes tv seasons will take awhile. it took my like 22 hours to download 24 season 1.

Also, beware, 24 is an addiction!! Once you see the first show you'll have to see the rest. :P

Nah. You're looking at this wrong. You're downloading a copy of something without paying for it, so it is considered stealing. It's not like the song artists who make music deserve the money anyways, but that's how the world works.

That depends on the torrent and your internet, I downloaded a Lost season in an hour, and that was DVD quality.

And of course it's illegal to download TV seasons and such, or anything that's copyrighted. If you didn't pay for it or hold a copyright license for the things you downloaded, then you're breaking the law. That doesn't mean that they can track you down and sue you, though.

Alright. I just might download the rest on some day I'm not using my computer much. Then try to figure some way to convert it. Usually, if I care enough, the desire to do something would drive me to find out the way to do it. So, yes, I'll probably find a good converter, just so I could play it on my iPod. And I do want some show to like, again. I've seen NCIS, almost all the episodes. It's a great show as well.

AVS converter is good. you'll have to torrent and crack it though. It's fairly simple to do, just takes a few minutes of switching files around.

Also, just leave your computer on overnight for a few nights. Then on during the day when you're not using it.

Oh, and first 20 minutes of episode 1 you'll get to see Elisha dressed like this.

Hence why I said it depends on the torrent and your internet.

You obviously don't like thrillers then. Or you're too young to understand the plot.

Each episode is an hour, isn't it? Which makes a season just one day. I'm interested in seeing how that'd play out. Oh, and there was also Lost... Well, I guess only one at a time. Anyway, I'll check out that converter, I guess. And I'll watch it tonight. I can't settle down in the middle of the day and watch tv. Just never have been. Not that I'm up running around; my day is usually a repeatable schedule of drawing till my eyes are tired, listening to music and getting on the bell tree.

each episode is 42-45 min, because of the commercials. And yes, seasons take place over 24 hours, and everything happens in real time which is cool.

Oh and Lost, yeah that looks good too, I'm gonna start those after 24 season 8. I'm currently on 3, and i started last Sunday. :p
