Each to their own but this is an odd take to me, the music for the hour really sets the mood of the game for me. Like 9am is usually upbeat whereas 7pm gets more mellow and chill etc. Paying attention to the different hourly music tracks makes the game more immersive but if you don’t care for it or even notice the change then I guess that specific element of the game is lost on you and that’s not a bad thing. We all want/like different things.

I’m very aware it’s a matter of personal preference and I don’t get why people in this thread seem borderline offended that I’m creating a competition or something and that’s not my intention at all lol. The reason why I made this topic for new fans to check out the earlier music and give it a try. There are a lot of great musical tracks in the earlier titles and if people are interested in relaxing music to check out I would wholly recommend it. The widely accepted opinion in the fandom for veteran players is that the music in NH is weaker in comparison to the prior titles but obviously there is divergence from that opinion in the playerbase which is fine too.
Don't worry about it lol, I'm genuinely unsure as to why people think those that don't like the NH soundtrack try to make a competition out of it. It's as if we're not allowed to dislike anything about the newest series in the game and if you do, you're a "complainer". Even if it is, why aren't we allowed to compare two series that are directly linked to each other? Comparing things is a part of life and telling people to "stop comparing" related things is a weird take and it's never going to stop happening anyways.
The music is a big part of the game (or games in general) to some people, especially when you can't turn it off without muting the other sounds, and I agree it's a weird take to think listening to video game soundtracks is weird. Classical music is essentially just music, so why is it so weird to listen to video game music and enjoy/be disappointed by it? I stand by the NH soundtrack being the weakest in the series for many reasons, and I'm always confused as to why people don't want to accept my opinion lol.
More power to those who like the NH soundtrack but if we don't like it and compare it to other soundtracks, don't tell us to stop comparing because it's our own preference just like you have yours...Anyone is welcome to contest me and I will explain anything. But I will continue to enjoy my modded soundtrack much more than the NH soundtrack which genuinely made me dislike playing.

I’ve seen plenty of people on here comment that as longer term players they like NHs music more, and I don’t necessarily believe there is an actual consensus in the player base, about anything (ever - we are an opinionated group). Even if there was, that’s not to me an actual indicator of relative quality, and using it as evidence can come across as if you are pitting new players against longtime players.
I think by ‘offended’ what you are noticing is a small amount of defensiveness and if you are asking why people seem a little bit defensive, I would say that you may not have intended it, but your post was worded in a combative way. It seemed to imply that people who are new fans or who like the NH music are simply lacking in understanding or experience - in other words implying their opinions are based on ignorance. But people are simply expressing the opinions you specifically asked about, not in anyway invalidating your opinion.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with disliking the soundtrack, and to me equally nothing wrong about people liking the soundtrack. Maybe it is because I don’t really engage with the fandom outside of this forum, but I don’t see this as a big controversy
There’s nothing wrong with agreeing with popular opinion (as you describe it, I really don’t know which view is more popular), but there isn’t anything better about it either, in my opinion.
no one’s been rude or aggressive in their responses to you, and so I think it is safe to say that no one is offended. They just disagree with you, perhaps strongly, because on this forum we all tend to have strong opinions about the game. But a variety of opinions seems like a good thing for a discussion post.

I didn’t say stop comparing, or say that people should not dislike the soundtrack.
I am noting this because it is the OPs response to me (in part) that you are quoting. which I note only because what I said in my post is that people do not have to compare the soundtrack to previous soundtracks for their opinion to be valid, and does not resemble in any way what you are writing about.
from what I can tell nobody has made any of the accusations you are describing in this thread, so perhaps you are referencing controversies in the fandom at large.
but nobody here said you can’t compare, or have to like the soundtrack.
For my part, I only intended to respond to the question specifically asked by the OP - I am a new player to the series, I like the music in NH, and to me, I do not feel that I need to compare it to previous soundtracks to know whether I like it or not. The only reason people are discussing whether or not they like the new soundtrack is because it is the topic of the thread, so I fail to see why that would be seen as attacking people who dislike it.
