Question for people with 2 islands

So, up until now I have been playing AC technically on a family member's switch, but when Gamestop got them back in stock I decided to buy my own switch lite. I started my second island today which is planned to be an all cat island

My question is, how can I get communication to work between the 2 islands and/or allow them to visit each other? I know that Nintendo doesn't let you do it if they're sharing the same digital copy, so I'm guessing I'd have to buy a 2nd (physical) copy. But is that enough? Do i need to make a 2nd nintendo account? Do i have to buy a 2nd online subscription??? Becauuuse if that's the case i might just give up and use a friend as a go between if there's something very important to transfer between islands. There's only so much I'm willing to spend on this.

I have one island on a Switch Lite(physical) and the other on a regular Switch(digital).I use the same Nintendo account for both islands and visit and trade between the two using local wi-fi,just like I did in New Leaf on the 3DS.

I have 2 Switches one has a digital copy and one has a physical copy of ACNH. I have the same profile on both Switches. I am able to visit between my towns by going to the airport and choosing local play. This would not work if both games were digital, tho.

Tysm for the replies!! I was dumb and forgot that local play existed for a minute lol. Glad to hear that using the same profile isn't an issue as I made my 2nd res rep with the same profile before considering it. I spooose I'll shell out the cash for a physical copy ahaha
