For you experienced cyclers out there, is it possible to get a seemingly anchored villager to move out??

My cycle town used to be my main town, so it was all dreamies, friendship high for everyone. But I started a new town on a new file because I didn't like the layout and turned my town into a cycle town. Now everyone's long moved out, except OCTAVIAN... it's been 70+ cycles since he was the last remaining original villager but he refuses to budge. I believe it may be because he is the only villager that has a high friendship with my mayor -- I use the foolproof cycling method so I never talk to any of the cycled villagers.

Is there any way to get him out of my town?? Ugh. I've tried talking to him once with a secondary character and then ignoring, but that hasn't seemed to work. He's the last thing stopping me from resetting my town. Any information/experiences would be appreciated!

EDIT: I was able to get him out when I stopped using the foolproof method and simply cycled day by day, talking to all villagers walking around every day. 3 different villagers pinged me to move, I said no each time, and the next to ping was Octavian. Yay! :) Posting this in case anyone else has the same problem as I did.

When I get a villager that's hard to move I get into super befriending mode.I spam talk them, send them letters with gifts attached and do all of their tasks. That usually works, but if I get desperate,I push them until they get mad ,then while they're still angry,I keep talking to them repeatedly. They don't get that thought bubble when they're mad so you can keep talking to them as many times as you want as long as they're still mad(you might have to push them several more times). It sounds crazy but it's worked for me quite a few times.I think the game sees the talking as attention even though you've angered the villager. It's funny but my Octavian is the opposite of yours...he's always wanting to move out.

I'm pretty sure the problem here though is that I already have max friendship with Octavian... because the other villagers I've never talked to at all and are constantly changing. :( :( :(

i have at least 500 move out and claudia is still around. well i had submit to life

well, that's disheartening. I wonder why this happens. I've had like 100+ move out and in the beginning he would ask to move out but I would say no because I potentially wanted to move him to my main. now he won't leaveeeeeee. may just have to reset him sometime because i'm getting tired of cycling and want to start a new town

I dunno...I don't believe there's such a thing as "max friendship" in this game.I think friendship levels are always changing. You said that you tried ignoring him so I figured maybe the opposite would get him to move. But that foolproof method might change the whole dynamic of the game.I tried it once and Cookie never wanted to move after 50 cycles.I hope you get him out.

Friendship drops after 3 weeks, so my theory is that the friendship got so low to the point where they will never move out: and yes there is a stage for that. It's about halfway between stage "zero" and "seven", so a "four". The solution is to start talking to him again.

I think it's probably just bad luck. When I was trying to cycle Erik out of my town, it took over forty move outs before he finally decided to get out. Hopefully he'll move on soon!

Like the above people said, i think it's bad luck. I was trying to get Lolly to ping out of my main town so i could give someone a dreamie and literally everyone but her asked to move out so that was pretty annoying so it's probably just bad luck

are you sure? I'm pretty sure I still have high friendship with Octavian even though I haven't really interacted with him much since I started cycling. I'll check with a megaphone later.

edit: yup. he smiles & waves at me when I call him.

When that happened was Lolly your 10th and most recently moved in villager? Because they rarely ping you to move out - learned that the hard way and lost 2 dreamies.

I honestly don't think it's just bad luck here. There has to be some kind of mechanism for it, since many cyclers have had anchored villagers. Before I started the foolproof method I was cycling slowly because I was holding Rosie and Octavian - both with high friendship, both would occasionally ping me to move and I said no. After Rosie moved out, Octavian was the only villager who I had any friendship with at all and he refuses to move. Now that all the villagers in my town are strangers, the most recent move-ins tend to be the ones to move out first.

I'm wondering if any cyclers using the foolproof method have had similar experiences?? and what happened in the end?
