So, there's some villagers I want to get out of town to make room for my dreamies. I really want Tammi out of my village but she refuses to move! Every time she pings me she just wants to buy stuff. So, if I would scan an amiibo card in and get her in boxes (that's how I think it works), could I move a dreamie in before the actual amiibo character moves in? I'm bad at explaining, so let me give a scenario.

Let's say I wanted Fauna as a dreamie, and I wanted to move one of my current villagers out, so I scanned in.. let's say.. Rosie's card. When the villager I wanted to boot was in boxes, could I go to someone else's town and adopt Fauna before Rosie would have the chance to move in?

Sorry for being so awkward with this and thanks for any help!

Once you scan in a villager from an Amiibo card and they agree to move in,their plot shows up the next day and there's no way to stop them from moving in as far as I know. The game won't let you move in any more villagers once you hit ten, even if one of them is in boxes.

Alright, thanks. I'm just having a really hard time getting Tammi to move out and I wanted to see if there was an alternative.

To add to what Nunnafinga said, you also can?t move an amiibo villager out unless its with another amiibo villager, so I wouldn?t risk it. Would you use TT to get the villager out? If yes I can tell you what I would do.

I've been TTing for hours to try to get her out, but she just won't move. I'm trying the second character thing right now. With all my TT, a villager I wanted was always the one moving out.

Hm ok then you are at least on the right track I think.
Here is what I would do:

First of, I have found that villagers tend to move much more likely if you ignore them from the start. If you do anything with them besides the introduction dialogue, they seem much more likely to stay. I don?t know if ignoring them now will help at all, but you could at least try to stop talking to them.

Now about TT

  • go to your settings and change the date 11 days forward
  • create a new character and skip through the intro untill you get the map
  • look to see if any house is missing
    1. if a dreamy?s house is missing, turn off without saving and change the time back to where it was, wait for them to ping you and change their mind. After that I would again skip forward 11 days etc.
    2. if the house of the one you want to move out is missing...well you?re done. Turn off without saving and TT back to get the date when they move, otherwise you might risk someone new moving in (if we are talking about moving out a 9th villager here)
    3. if no house is missing, no one should be moving. I won?t give a guarantee for that but I don?t think the 10 day counter can start when you are not in town. To be safe i would walk around with the new character and check the houses of the villagers you want to keep to make sure that they are not in boxes.
  • Side note: The game does not determine who moves in before you start the game on the day they move in. But it saves who moves out as soon as that villager makes that descision. Anything you see when checking with the new character will 100% happen so you don?t need to save the character and delete it to save the state of your town that your are observing.
  • If you made sure no one is in boxes, exit the game without saving and load up your mayor?s file. Save and exit the game.
  • TT 11 days forward again and repeat untill you get option 2). This is the fastest and safest method I know.

Thank you! I'll definitely try this out! However, for changing the date, how would I do that before creating the new character?

Np I wrote a tutorial for fast and safe cycling recently so this is basically the same method just without the cycling since I assumed that you dont plan on reaching the 16-villager mark. (if you do I will give you the link)^^ll
I always change the time in my system menu, never in game, maybe thats just how I started and I keep doing it like that out of habit. However, for this tutorial thats your only option since only this method allows to change characters.^^

For future reference, I had two tries in a row where no one moved out, and after checking, no one was in boxes, so I highly doubt someone can be in boxes upon creating the new character.

I just wanna add on my own question here. Why is it that we can't move out scanned villagers?? Is there any way to get rid of just one? I have a town of nine regular villagers and one scanned (Cece), I don't want her to stay forever and now I'm terrified to even scan in any of my other rare villager cards. I want their pictures but I don't want them necessarily. /:

I see. They definitely can be in boxes if you move less than 10 days ahead, I can guarantee that. But I still wont give any guarantee that no villager can think of moving (thereby stating the 10 day countdown) while you are not playing the game, although its likely. Good luck with moving the villagers^^, let me know if you have any other questions or issues.

Hm, I only know that amiibo villagers supposedly never move out by themselves. I think you can only move them out if you scan a new amiibo and say that that particular villager should move out to make the necessary space. So you will only get that villager to move by scanning a new one I think...Someone please correct me if I got that wrong.

I don't want to just be stuck with an Amiibo villager forever though. Does anyone know if scanning in a normal villager by one of the series 1 - 4 cards if they ping to move out??? I understand why Sanrio and Nintendo characters don't normally ping. This is really stupid though... I like the randomness of the move in's and out's and love collecting pictures.

I shouldn't be this upset over this, but I am. ;;;; this is like mad stressing me out.

Is there a limit on how much you can do this? This is about my fifth try with no one moving out. It worked for the first attempt, but now it's not. Does it have to be once a day or something?

Again I have never tested it because I dont own amiibo cards myself. But I?m pretty sure this rule applies to ALL amiibo character, not just the amiibo-only ones. The logic seems to be that if someone has purchased the card and scanned it, they definitely want that villager in their town so the villager shouldnt consider moving....I think in concept thats nice, but in reality you can run into problems like you have right now. MAYBE I?m speaking nonsense here (I would be happy for you in that case), but I think your only option is to always move out the amiibo-card villager with another card to avoid having more than one non-moving villager.
*Again someone please correct me but thats how it was explained to me...

Amiibo villagers can move out.
It just takes a very long time.

Months.

Awsome, I just learned something new!^^ thanks

There is no limit, I cycled out like 20-30 villagers in 2 days before I made my tutorial. Its just that randomly no one wants to leave. Just make sure that you load the game up with your mayor character after skipping 11 days ahead (and checking with the new character first). If you dont load the game with an already existing character and save, no one will have the chance to decide to move out. But if you do, its just whether someone wants to move or not. From my experience sometimes no one moves for weeks and then everyone wants to go....

Thank you for your help with me, Tomoe! It was really informative, despite the fact that I'm annoyed at Nintendo for this stupid idea. I understand it, you obviously want them, but then you have the card. Make them rarely ping, but don't make them permanent. That just causes grief like I had because my other town had to get restarted due to having 8 - 9 Amiibo scan ins. If I had know it was this difficult I would have never invited Cece.

But this is another point of stupidity. I spent a lot of money on my Sanrio and Nintendo character cards. I want to use them, but I don't like a lot of them enough to keep them! c':

;;;; bless. I really hope I can eventually move out Cece. If I can I'll just keep one scanned villager in the town and the other 9 as random move ins. I just really don't wanna be imprisoned by this.

Like Stacky said, they can ping to move but it takes forever if your town has more than one or two "natural" villagers.I've found that in my spare town that once I get to having eight or more scanned Amiibo card villagers, they start pinging to move just like they were natural villagers but the remaining natural villagers ping much more often than the Amiibos.Another thing is that once a scanned Amiibo villager is adopted from their original town, they ping to move just like a natural villager in their new town.

Oh, I'm sure they do turn into normal villagers. I'm super happy to hear that Cece will eventually move out though, I just don't want to scan in 7 more villagers because I really do want to have them naturally cycle themselves out. So, like I said before it looks like I'll just continuously move in my Sanrio/Nintendo cards until they all give me pics and then just let them sit there till they boot themselves out.

It's a lot less stressful now, and honestly the idea that I was stuck with them was just super upsetting. I absolutely love my town but none of the villagers really fit my theme.

Suppose worse case scenario, I have Pudge's card, I'll just move him in. He's my dreamy so it won't really matter. (Honestly just remembered I have his card. Bless. I would have gone nuts ;;;;;; )

Thank you for the information! You guys have been super helpful to me despite this not even being my thread and you all deserve cookies.
