Question about "voided" villagers. Anyone?

Hey all you awesome mayors out there with fancy towns, is there a way to protect your village against the dreaded Voided Villagers out there when you are visiting or having guests another town? Some secret I don't know?
How does it all work?

If your town has 10 villagers, and you visit another town you won't get any voided villagers from that town. This is because your town is full, therefore you can't take any more villagers. I suggest when visiting a town make sure the person you're visiting has a clear void. This "void" is where a villager that they recently had, but didn't go to a new home or didn't get picked up goes to. They can clear this void by visiting a town that has 10 villagers, if not the villager will remain in the void up until 30 days. When others are visiting your town they can also pick up your void, so you'd also have to go to a town with 10 villagers to avoid others getting your void. So my best advice is to make sure your town is full at all times! or if not, just don't have anyone over for a while until that 10th space is filled.

Yes, i will also chime in here. There's various "methods" of clearing the void that people have posted. After a lot of trial and error, especially in my cycle town i use to have, i think its all bunk. I dont think there is a reliable way to clear the void. So, if you have only 9 villagers, you are always risking a random move in whether you host or visit other towns. Just my 2 cents.

It's also important to note...the full town you visit CANNOT have a villager boxed. It doesn't count as a full town if so. Also, the villager doesn't disappear from your void after 30 days. I'm not sure where that rumor came from. I picked up a voided villager that my daughter had voided months prior, she had voided at least half a dozen villagers after this one and had visited other towns many times. Because of this I have to agree with Skyfall that the only fool proof way to avoid picking up a void is to keep a full town and/or not visit or receive villagers if you're down to only nine villagers.

There is no way to clear your void. The only way to ensure you don't pick up voided villagers is to already have 10 villagers. You can't pick up voided villagers at the point because your town is full. Clearing the void is sadly a widely accepted fallacy.

But, if you go to their town instead of them coming to yours, you don't get their voided villages?

You would have a chance of getting a void villager. Basically if you have 9 villagers, you have a chance of getting a void villager from streetpass, visiting someone's town, or some visiting your town. What I do is, if I have less than 10 villagers, I will not trade at all (and my streetpass is already turned off) until I get a 10th villager.

Well, that's good to know; thank you for taking your time to explain it
