Question about villager house placement. [answered]

So a new villager is moving in today and I've been using the reset method to try and get her into one specific spot, but she has yet to place her house there. I know it's completely random where villagers place their house, but I was worried that the place I picked might be impossible.

To the left is another villager's house, and to the right is the police station. Is there not enough room for another house to go in between? I've read that people have had villagers move one space next to each other, but I'm not sure if that applies with public work projects.

They can place themselves near another house but I think it needs to be 5+ spaces away (every direction) from a PWP

I doubt that's true, I can place pwps 2 spaces away from villager houses (like the chair I put next to Pinky's house, although I had to destroy it later). As a general rule villagers can put their houses 1 square away from anything (which can make things real annoying), so the spot you chose should be fine. I tried putting Marshal and Kid Cat and specific places and it took forever. :T

Well, that's a relief! Thanks! It's too bad we can't pick place villager houses ourselves. I've been trying to get my new villager into that spot all morning. x__x

Everything needs 1 space all around, plus 2-3 spaces in front of the door. So two buildings need 2 spaces. I have my police station just 2 spaces away from town hall, so pwp are no different. It would fit there, it's just random and may take you a long time!

I had Whitney and Pekoe move in today, and they are right next to each other, in front of my main bridge *sobs*

Now I'm alone on half of the island and there are 9 villagers crowding on the small half ; u ;

It was worth it, too! I was literally going to quit and just let the new villager move wherever she wanted and deal with her in the morning. So glad I kept trying.

But your layout seems pretty cool! Because then it's like you have a residential area for your villagers, haha.

Two spaces.

It's always worth resetting when you got a location you want a villager in. It's such a permanent thing you would regret it forever if you just give up on it and you had big plans. It's so nice to have your villagers exactly where you want them. (*Refers to his signature* All plots are chosen exactly, except the top two but they are very fine. xD)
