Question about village move in

One smug villager has reserve a plot in my town right now. He is my 9th villager. Is it safe for me to travel to different town without worrying about unexpected villagers from other town to move in? Thanks guy

I'm sure you only risk random move-ins from someone visiting your town, not the other way around, but honestly I'm not completely sure.

I visited someone town to collect signatures and the next day CoCo landed right next to my home unexpectedly:| It turned out that CoCo was from the town that I had visited to collect the signatures:| But at that time I only had 9 villagers and there was no moving in or out of my town.

Oh, I guess it does work both ways then, I've never had that happen to me before!

I'm not sure though, since there's already a plot down, you might still be risking a move in though..

You can still catch a villager. The same situation happened to me and I had Clay move in from that person's void.

I'm pretty sure you can still get streetpass or voided villagers from other towns. You've gotta have 10 villagers to be safe from that!

I agree with above, you're never safe unless you have a 10th villager. You have to hope you don't land some weird villager you don't like. But I say you travel anyways, you can always ask the person if they cleared their void.
