Question about using amiibo cards as a source of DIYs

If I don't have a lot going on, I will invite a villager to my campsite using an amiibo card, strictly for the DIY. If you do this, have you ever not made the item, or not given it to them? I'm wondering about the consequences for that, if there are any. Will they remember if you invite them again? Will it impact the ability to invite them to live on your island if you later decide to do that?

I never made them the item, they don’t care. Next time they come it’s as if nothing happened.

If they gift me a recipe I don't have, I craft them the item. If it's a duplicate, they can have someone else build it for them!
