So I've TTed to the date that my 9th villager is in boxes. Is it safe to TT to the present day without having a new villager move in?

In other words, Aurora is in boxes and it's March 2, 2014 in my town. I want to TT back to today using my mayor to TT at 5:58am on February 26, 2014. Then start with a new character well after 6am. Does this trick work with the 9th villager or does TT not work for this scenario?

I ask because I tried this once before, and I was stuck with a villager. This is what happened last time:
- TTed to date that 9th villager was in boxes, saved and quit
- Started with mayor at 5:58am to different date, saved and quit before 6am
- Started game with new character after 6am, checked around the town looking for plot, found no plot, so reset.
- Started game with mayor at 5:58am the next day, saved and quit before 6am
- Started game with new character, found house (not plot) - tried resetting, same house/villager. This villager was locked in.

What did I do wrong?
btw - sorry this was so long, I just felt the more info you guys had, the better you'd be able to help me.

I'm trying to customize my 9th villager, but I don't want to have to wait a day in real time to do it.

When you TT back, Aurora will be moved out. TT'ing backwards counts as one day, wether you TT back a day or a week. And when A villager is in boxes, they will move if you TT off that date. I think you're safe to TT backwards without having a new villager move in, though.

Yeah, I'm aware that Aurora will be gone even when I TT backwards. What I'm not sure of is how many in-game days go by before a new 9th villager moves in. Is it the next day or two days later? So if I TT back to the present, that would be day 1 (Aurora and house gone).

I think it's 2 or 3 days, maybe a little more. A new villager never moves in right after the other just moved out, unless you invited a villager to move in, or attracted one from someone else's villager pool.

It's 3 to 5 days. I know because I'm cycling right now and I TT and everytime it's inbetween 3 to 5 days. I usually TT 3 days the first time then 1 day and then 1 more day. I don't bother looking for a plot but I always see a new house on the 5th day using this method. Hope I helped!

Thanks, guys. You made me a little more at ease TTing back to the present day. After that, I'm fine to wait it out real time. No more TTing for me for a while. :D
