Question about tiles/paths I've placed

My town is REALLY disordered. In an attempt to begin to fix it, I've begun to chop down trees and replant in a more orderly fashion.

Momji (bless her!) advised me that my paths are indeed confusing. I want to fix that. If I go to my patterns section and erase a pattern, will all the placed tiles disappear and leave gigantic "white" spots, or will the area revert to grass/mud?

I am also HUGELY concerned for the winter and if I need to erase every tile by foot, I'd better be ready to haul my mayor's butt out there and make sure I have grass/mud areas for the snowmen that are supposed to appear pretty soon.

I hope this makes sense.

So far I know, the path will stay also when you delete that design, but I only tried that with a standee. Ok that might be no big help now xD sorry, maybe I'll find out later^^

Lol! That's okay! I'm sure somebody knows for sure. I just want to be certain that I don't have huge "white" spots that won't even count for grass. That would really stink, and I'd rather have to go out and remove each one by foot than suffer thru having no chance for snow and the snowman thing coming up.

If you have a pattern acting as a path, and then replace that pattern with a second, the second pattern will replace all the tiles from the old pattern leaving you with the old paths shape but new design(which is very useful for trying different path designs).
I don't know what'll happen if you just delete the pattern, though.
My guess is it'll just delete all the tiles leaving bare grass and a worn path where you've been walking the most.

Ah...and I bet that also means that there is no grass/mud beneath. Thank you! It will be a pain, but I'd rather erase one by one than have white with nothing beneath. Well, that plus ugly...

Just tried it. If you erase the pattern the spot on the ground turns WHITE. Better start kicking some patterns away.

Don't worry If you put your effort into it, everything will be worth it. Rather have a nice path than a white path!

Thank you, all. It WILL be worth it. And thank you for the fast response. At least I can get to work right away and be prepared for December rather than have all that work waiting for me when the fun begins again.

ETA - Rendra, I hope you didn't lose too much. I asked before trying it myself because all of my paths cover large areas and I wanted to have a chance at being certain of what would happen rather than be shocked.

Oh, thank goodness! Thank you for putting my mind at ease. I would have hated to have had you go thru trouble.

This thread at least probably has the upshot that others will now know. Those of us with a lot of paths/tiles who need to clear room for the snowman thingy in December need to make room! I hadn't thought of that, or even known about the snowman thing until just a few days ago. So, I may as well kill two birds, so to speak, and rearrange my town and prepare for Snowmen at the same time.
