Well, I'm obsessed with a game and I think it would translate well in Animal Crossing so I decided to make my town/homes temporarily themed as such. The only issue I'm having is with my homes. Some of the rooms I like too much to dismantle, but if I leave them and have other themed rooms, would that ruin the effect I'm going for? I haven't been to many themed towns... Sorry for such a dumb question, lol. Just want to pull off my idea; haven't seen anyone else do it yet so I figured I should try. :)

I considered resetting an old cycling town and just making that town the themed one, but that's a lot of effort and 2 towns is enough for me right now.

I guess having themed means everything in your town themed to something(ex:colorful)
I guess you could have 2 or 3 rooms a little bit different themed but make sure the outside of ur town is also themed not just the houses.I have a town based from a movie and books so I had to make lots of research xD!Whatever suits you is fine!

It's completely up to you on how strict you want to be about the town following that theme. It can be loosely based on it, with some deviations from the subject, or it can be super strict where everything is carefully selected to fit in just perfectly.

I guess you don't have to be very strict with your theme. You could make everything in your town follow it or leave some rooms in your house the way they are. You could make a side character and make their house themed or temporarily dismantle the rooms in your house. It's your choice. :) It's hard to say without knowing how strict you want to be with your theme and the purpose (is it just for yourself or are you trying to create a dream town?).

Are you thinking of a Dream Address? I haven't seen it done, but perhaps you could consider some rooms as "personal space" and block them off with some signs on easels that indicate these rooms aren't part of the "tour." It would mean at a minimum devoting the main room to your theme and coming up with a custom design to use as your sign. People would still see your other rooms, but it would give it the feel of visiting a historic home that is on display while still in use as a personal home too.

If it's a room on the ground floor (the side and back rooms), it's possible to just block them off with furniture in the main room, so nobody can even see the rooms, as far as I know. Just place some furniture on the ground and push it so that it's in front of the doors.

I don't think it's possible to do that for the other floors, though. I've thought about having some themed houses with rooms that wouldn't have anything to do with the theme and would be there just because I like the furniture, and I've decided that if I ever make a dream town, I'll temporarily change those rooms to match the theme while I update the dream address and then change them back to normal.

Whenever I theme my house for a holiday like Halloween or something I only do the main room. I don't have the energy to dismantle all my other rooms, nor the space to store all those items.

I don't think it ruins the effect to leave other rooms the same. Like Laser Beams and Sosu said, you can block off those rooms if you'd like, but in my opinion the only thing that matters is the main room since that's the initial impression you get when you walk into a house.

I have three games and the houses are all themed. It's one of my favorite things to do in the game. They are in my sig if you would like to visit.

I see what you mean about not wanting to destroy a room that you like so you can make it themed.I ended up putting some of my creations in my museum.I really liked them, but they didn't fit any of the themes i was going for.
