Question about the digital & physical copies...

So here's the story: I've been playing the physical copy since the game's release and I wanted to buy a digital copy to get some dream villagers for me and other people as well, but I didn't think it all the way through and realized I only had one 3DS. So basically I can't trade between the games LOL.

THEN I realized I don't have time for two copies anymore, so I'm just giving my cousin the second copy (on my SD card) for his birthday. My question is: can I do that? Can I just give my cousin the SD card WITH the digital version of New Leaf just like that? Will he be able to insert the SD card into his 3DS and play the game, no problem? No, sadly. You can only play Digital games in the DS that bought them (or on the DS that received the transfer data from the 3DS that bought it). If you want to give him a second copy, you'd have to give him the physical one.

You can't give him the SD card, you'd need to give him the physical copy. If you want to keep the town from your physical copy, since youve had it longer, What you can do is go to the eStore and download (free) the save data transfer utility. It allows you to transfer the save off the physical copy into your digital copy, wiping the physical copy back to blank in the process, ready for you to give to your cousin.

I did it a few weeks ago when I got my XL. Worked fine.
