Once an agreement has been reached for the sale of a villager, what's the usual process for completing the transaction?

Does the buyer go to the seller's island and drop off their winning offer then speak to the villager in boxes?

What's the normal process?

Yes, that is usually the process.

I assume it's just a case of trust and honesty
Yes, I wouldn't trade with people that have negative reviews on the site and seeing that you're new, that's how usually things are done here.
I suppose if the transaction involves a very large amount of bells or NMT's then half could be provided before and half after the villager is asked to move.

What I’ve done for like higher tier villagers is invite the person over on a 50/50 agreement. They drop half payment. Talk to the villager, drop the other half once the villager is moving to their island. Feel like it helps to protect both parties a bit more but it’s definitely all in trust. Always good to check account feedback and stuff if you’re selling anyone considered S tier

well, these forums have a "feedback" system that is very helpful. is it a new/unreviewed account? if so, be more cautious.

i'm fairly new here as well, but i've only had good experiences on here over 10-15ish total trades - mostly trading villagers from my island or onto my island. i had 2-3 trades with "unreviewed" new accounts, and all of those went exactly as specified in the trade (ie. good/fast trades)
