Is there any way to tell, when you give or send villagers furniture whether they will replace something, or put the new furniture in an empty place?
Of course I know when they explicitly ask you to replace such and such item that they replace the item. It's just sometimes a villager will have space in their house, I'll send them or give them something that fits that space, but they'll replace something else that I didn't want replaced.
Can they only have the same amount of furniture in the same spaces as their original furniture?
