I'm curious about something-- say, if you had a villager on your island and then they left, if you reinvited them back, would they act as if they'd never met you? If they were invited by Amiibo, could you still invite them again by Amiibo? I want to give a friend their dreamy (that is also my dreamy) and then reinvite them back right away.

the villager will be re-invitable via amiibo asap (given you complete the 3 DIY tasks for them again), but they'll not remember anything and instead act like they've never lived on your island before. though, the villager you give to your friend - if you visit them - will remember you.

In New Leaf, amiibo villagers were treated as new versions of that villager. So, if your villager moved to your friend's town, they would remember you. If you moved them back in from your friend's town, they would remember you. But if you generated a new one using amiibo cards, they wouldn't have the memories of you.

I imagine it is similar in this game too.

Thank you for the responses! This eases my mind a bit. I'm fine if they don't remember me; I just wanted to make sure there weren't any related bad side effects. ☺
