Question about plot resetting amiibo villagers

When I replaced a random move-in with an amiibo villagers, the amiibo villager plotted exactly where the random villager was. I want the amiibo villager to be at another free 3x3 space. Is it possible that, if I keep plot resetting, the amiibo villager will move to that space? It's happened before where an amiibo villager did not plot in the exact same spot as the villager they're replacing.

Yes, the villager could plot elsewhere if you keep on resetting

When I used an Amiibo card to bring Francine in I didn't plot reset because I expected her to put her house where the previous villager had been. She didn't plot there, tho. Instead, she put her house right next to my windmill. Didn't want her house there but nothing I could do about it since I had loaded up my Mayor.

From my experience, amiibo card villagers are more likely to plot where the previous house was. If you can, keep resetting, they will plot somewhere else.
