Question about move-in locations... Villagers are avoiding this big area

I want my future villagers to put their house somewhere in a huge empty area I have prepared for them, yet, they avoid that area like the plague. Is there a reason why they choose not to live there? It's not too close to the water nor are there public works projects in the way.

I have done the move-in trick several times, and each time, my villagers who are moving in choose a spot in a crowded area as opposed to this empty area.

My villagers are currently clumped together. They won't budge. Just like 5 in a row! It's so weird. My last town (R.I.P Catlanta) my villagers hated each other and spaced accordingly I guess

i'm currently resetting faunas house and she usually goes in crowded areas but sometimes she'll go where theres no houses so idk i think its definitely random and you should keep trying :3 good luck

Thanks! Yeah, I'll just keep trying. Perhaps these villagers are just really social and prefer to live close to their prospective new friends XD !

Yup, villagers have a tendency to try to clump their houses to together. But it is random, so just keep trying. Good luck!
