If he gives you an item that has multiple colour variants, does he give you your ‘assigned’ colour aka the colour you’ll find at Tom nooks? Or can he give you any colour? Interested to know, please and thanks! :)

He can give you any color. :)

I always select 'something new' to get variants. :)

I always pick something expensive and it’s always something I already have :( every time so I don’t visit wisp anymore :(

Wisp will never give you something truly expensive. The highest price he goes is literally like 3k bells. He's terrible with value.

Based on what John Wick said, that Wisp will give you variants of items, that's probably all he's good for.

I've heard that regardless of what you pick (something new or something expensive) Wisp will give you the same thing and does not stick to his word. That being said I'm pretty sure the color variants are random.

Maybe this can help, and indeed, he's bad with value...

Thank you so much for posting this! I always select the new option because I want the colour variants but I didn't realize his limit of "expensive" items was so low, especially with the way they decided to do pricing in this game, a lot of items that were maybe ~5,000 bells in previous titles are over 100,000 bells now. Of course some people will always have bad luck and just get really low valued items but still the upper limit there seems way too low!

Not all true.

The first time I saw Wisp I picked 'something expensive' and he gave me a humble sweater.

Hardly a 10k item.

Wisp even says he doesn't know the value of things. :)

The moment he gave me a broom and dustpan as something expensive I preferred to get a new item, at least that helps with your catalog.

With the range of 10K OR LESS, it doesn't surprise me that you got a humble sweater from him 😓

Yeah...I stopped asking for something expensive a long time ago lol

In the beginning, I was hoping for items in the 99k+ price range that I would never normally buy, the Server or Kimono Stands etc. Then he gave me an Essay Set...twice...so I just started picking something new from then on.

I just hate his poor judgment of "something expensive." Can someone give Wisp a crash course about market trends and prices? I don't care if you're a wandering spirit. But please give me something that I specify!

Yeah, Wisp has no idea what something ‘expensive’ is. Is there bell inflation in universe? Because 10k is barely anything, was it worth much more when he was alive? Please give me some lore, Nintendo.
But at least Wisp is useful for cataloging color variants of cheap items.
