i have been thinking a lot about buying a second one since i have 2 3ds. is it worth it?

I have 2 3DS too, and I don't regret buying my second game. I love having two towns, and it's easier developing the second one if you can go travel between your towns using both 3DS.

Spend 500 bells for a photograph and you have full access to all the "treasure" of the already developed town. That is, of course, if both or neither towns are updated.

that's right! I chose to update both and haven't regretted it either.
The only annoying thing is unlocking stuff like stores and stuff. But like I said, it goes a lot faster with 2 towns.

The question you have to ask yourself is: how much do you care about what some people consider "exploits"? Are you afraid villagers will call you a time traveler? Do you feel shame when Resetti says, "Well, I guess that's one way to play it..."?

If the answer to those questions is "yes," then you need to evaluate whether you will have the time and the energy to maintain a separate town for its own sake. You will also have to think about the massively increased temptation to "cheat".

If the answer to those questions is "no," then GOOD HEAVENS IT'S WONDERFUL! Double fossils! Double shops! All the time travel turnips you can eat! An actual house in the StreetPass display! And every time a villager leaves one town, you can snap them up in the other, if they don't wander over all by themselves!

Something to think about, anyway.

I have 3 towns and it's super helpful with all the items I have. More room for decorating which is a plus.^-^

If you're not getting enough satisfaction out of one copy, then it's probably worth the $35 or whatever it costs where you live to get another.

My game, my rules. How on earth could anyone find shame in a game or care what villagers or, especially, Resetti think? You may be taking this a bit too seriously.

What do you mean a photograph?

It's required to use the Photo Boot to get a photograph before being able to use the Train Station.
I believe you already know it.

Having two towns is cool, because we can share different perfect fruits and have fun moving villagers from a town to another.

I had 3 penguins and sent Puch to NewLeaf where he lives now.

It was totally worth it to me! But I also wait until used copies become available for under $15. I have a digital copy to play with that's entirely cheat and hack free (I got a digital copy specifically because it would be near impossible to hack it, my laziness would forever deter me from hacking a digital copy, it's also the copy that I use to interact with players who are uncomfortable with hacking since everyone has a right to play how they want to), I have a cycling town that has been repurposed into a copy that I let friends or family play when they're visiting, I have a cartridge with a total hack town that is constantly being used for different layout and themed town ideas (mostly just for me to play in and visit through their dream codes in my main town) and my favorite one is for mixed-play where I hack specifically to move buildings and over-ride the tree limits but don't interfere with other aspects of game play.

If you think you'll enjoy yourself and have the time to split between multiple towns, go for it! I completely adore my multiple copies and being able to apply different designs to each. It's especially nice because since you've already been playing, you probably have a better idea of what you like (pwp placement, maps, etc.) so you might be able to create an even more fun environment for yourself without having to sacrifice your original town! Just keep an eye out for sales if the cost is a big factor <3

This. You are obviously more eloquent than I.

If you think you can manage two towns at the same time, I say go for it. I personally love having two copies of the game. When I bought my second copy, however, I had a purpose in mind for it. That purpose has since changed, but I still don't regret buying an additional copy. When I get tired of developing one town, I can just switch over to the second one and work on it. Maintaining two towns can be really satisfying, but it also means double the time, and double the effort.

You should wait until the New Leaf Welcome Amiibo package come out. Same great price but with an extra random Sanrio card. I think it come out in the U.S on the 10th.
