Question about Blue Roses

I've started this process a couple months ago and I'm having no luck.
My first set wasn't working so I started a new one but I cant get a purple rose so I can breed for hybrid red roses so that.i can use those to make blue roses. I cant believe I'm stuck on this step when I had no trouble getting purple rose's before but now these two white rose's aren't having it.

yes i understand, ive been trying for nearly a year and a half.
"buy 2 white roses, 1 red, 1 yellow from leif
breed 2 white and red and yellow together to get Purple and orange respectively
breed purple and orange together to get special red
breed 2 special red together to get blue"
but ive been trying to my fullest extent without time traveling. am i doing something wrong here?

When I started breeding blue roses, I continued breeding orange roses from orange roses and purple roses from purple roses. Then I removed the freshly spawned roses and placed them together. After a while, those roses spawned reds, which I then used to get blue.
This works for purple pansies as well.

I had so much trouble getting blue roses myself. I followed the guides, but months would pass with no blue roses so I got frustrated and started over. I think that was part of my problem. Once I stuck with it, I finally got one blue rose after something like 6-8 months. But I decided that I wasn't willing to wait another 6-8 months for a second one so I just bought a breeding pair off of this site. I understand that some flowers are more difficult, but blue roses are ridiculously hard.

I've been thinking about restarting the process with mine, thinking that I probably shouldn't use flowers from the island. Maybe the source of the original flowers matters.

It doesn't. I used the roses from island, and it worked eventually. I think it's after all a matter of luck?
I just started over yesterday because I was using the wrong colour combination to get "hybrid" reds, sigh... I got a real hybrid red this morning and hope for another one soon. It will be a while yet before I get those cherished blue roses.
By the way, is it really that important that the white, red and yellow roses you use to breed are from Leif or the island? I keep hearing that everywhere and I'm not 100% sure about mine. I just used every orange and purple I could find in my town.

I've tried to get blue roses with the whole hybrid red rose thing for months and it never worked for me. I eventually just gave up and got one from a friend. I was probably doing something wrong but I've walked through the guides like 10 times and I couldn't be bothered anymore.

Yep! They are pretty hard to get and thus valuable.
Well, with hard to get I mean initially. Because when you have two blue roses it is quite easy to get more.
