Question about a villager moving out

I have one small, quick question that maybe someone can answer me here. (I am sorry if it was asked before, I searched but didn't find my answer).

So... Jay is talking about leaving. And I like this villager a lot, for many years. He's one of my first villager and I was really happy about it.

He's now thinking about leaving. I like all of my villagers, but I also like to have some changes so I don't usually ask them to stay. It is also bugging me that he has the basic house lol.

Anyway, I know that there's no cycle like in previous games. But I am wondering, if I use Jay's amiibo card if I want him back in the futur or to see him at my campsite, will he recognize me and my island, or will he be a "new Jay"? Did anyone tried this?

I think I might reset the game and ignore his bubble and wait to see if anyone else will ask to move out in the next few days. However, I am still curious to know if he'll recognize me, and I might be willing to let him go just to try this!

I remember reading about this on here somewhere, and people had confirmed he will not recognize you.

This is also true for animals you come across on Mystery Islands that you had previously had.

i’m afraid that he won’t recognize you. unless if your jay were to move out and someone were to adopt him, that jay would remember you. however, any jay that you encounter besides that one would not recognize you

Yeah my brother wants him and I could see him back when I'm visiting, too bad he doesn't have any available plot!

I guess I'm going to say goodbye to him.. Hard decision, and I feel bad that I am mostly letting him go because he has a basic house Ahhhhhh!
But I like to have new villagers, it keeps things interesting.

I don't know but you can have someone hold him and if he moves out of the other town, you can get him back with better furniture and he may recognize you, not sure if this works, but I heard of it.
