How long does it take for you to get good at a character?

Been recently playing with Marth, while I'm alright with him I still get rekt and I know I have much room for improvement. Been about 4 days since I've dabble with the tipper and still no spikes :/

For me it usually takes about 3-5 days of continuous offline games to get a good feel for the character.
Then I gradually get better with the online games so I can pick up some new combos and stuff by observing others use them

Idk man, takes awhile.
I wanna use Captain Falcon how I use Yoshi & all of em', but I just can't get it right.

i mean ill define good as being better than the average players u see in team mode (fg and for fun). in that case it takes like 5-6 matches lol

I've been trying for months to be good at rosalina, but that's just me :')

Yeah, it depends on the character. I like technical characters (Wii For, Zelda, Alph, Robin, etc) and they take a few months. Wii Fit Trainer for example I played a lot since the Wii U version came out, but I felt like I actually got "good" with her in March. And I'm still learning things, so some take a lot of dedication.

It took me Melee, Brawl, and Smash 4 to get as good as I am with Marth. He's my main. It really depends on the character playstyle how different it is from what I'm used to. It took me a long time to get good with Robin because he's much slower than Marth and learning how to use the limited projectile attacks is difficult. I'm trying to learn Zelda at the moment. It's going alright, but I'm not too good with her yet.

It took a few weeks to learn DK, but really I only play him super well if I get salty.

Well Fox is my best main since I've played him since Smash Brothers Nintendo 64, BUT I've been practicing with Ryu both offline and online ever since he came out and am really good with him now... :)

I've always been great with Yoshi since Smash 64 and I still usd him in Smash Wii U. I mastered my favorite character and decided to learn others. I've played and spectated many matches and learn playstyles through that and even devise my own strategies like I do with Yoshi. I can usually learn a new character within a couple of hours, but characters such as Ness, Lucas, DK, Olimar, Captain Falcon, and a few others are a lot harder to learn.

Captain falcon...? I wouldn't think he would need much work put in to master. The others I can understand though. I would probably be a lot better if I could actually focus on one character. But I get really bored so I need to change often. Although now I am pretty content with playing peach for long periods of time. She has a lot of intersting things you can do with her, but I guess that just means more hard work... Oh well. I'm also really into using wario aswell, he's really fun to play even if you lose. I think I would need ageessss to master a character. I haven't played any of the other smash games, and I've only played this game for like 4 months, so I feel really left behind experience wise XD

Usually 2 or 3 days, or 5-6 days depending on the character.

Or sometimes never.

Well, it's very easy to get a grip with Captain Falcon, but to actually master him can take a while. He just seems a bit... too fast for me. I always end up over shooting with him, so I usually play Ganondorf instead.

Also, DK's pretty hard to learn and to actually play well, at least on a Green Ranger level.

With 90% of characters, if your opponent's spending too much time hugging the ledge, a up air or a fair can usually surprise them, especially if either of those are kill moves. It's usually how I start coming back with Donkey Kong.
