Hi,

I'm importing a 2DS from America

Will I need to perfom a system updated in order to purchas a US copy of Animal Crossing from the eShop?

And I cannot simply bare to not buy the seagreen 2DS, I have fallen in love with it and refuse to purchase the not so pretty red or blue EU ones.

(They're not pretty in my opinion so no hate please)

The pre-installed 2DS firmware is recent enough to play Animal Crossing: New Leaf, since the hardware was released a few months after that game. You still need to update the firmware in order to play online as well of local multiplayer with your main 3DS.

I believe you do need to update it in order to access the eShop. I recently had to update my 3DS firmware in order to download an update from the eshop for one of my games.

I think you need to update your 2DS to play and use the eShop but it's not a big deal, you can just access the eShop and it'll give you that option.

Lol that is not at all what was asked EVERY game could be played in theory with the very first standard firmware (untouched and not updated!) and you need the latest update to get into the Nintendo e Shop so yeah, you can not download the game from the shop but maybe you can purchase a physical copy!
