well i thought it was as easy at tting a day forward and tada 9 villagers?
thats my method anyway
ugh marshal is so hard to get when you are so lazy ;;
safe to say it would take 3+ months to get through all the requests to get marshal
but if i become a billionare in a strange circumstance i could buy everyone their own marshal.

well tbh my method to get any villager i like is just the plot reset [not campsite]
im thinking about using campsite resetting pretty soon though since most of the non villagers are very hard to plot reset for
i think once you get certain personalites when doing those tricks [etc you get a peppy] it leads on to more peppy villagers? i may be wrong.
so maybe if you want a smug use that way
you could wait for a villager but thats very unexciting for me ;;

marshal is hard as heck to get lol, especially when you need to get him 20+ times.
quillson is what i always get but not once did i get any other smug like rodney or etc.
ive had marshal 5-10 times from campsite and plot resetting but otherwise i wouldnt have had him once
maybe get 1 smug, move them out, since they cant move in until a 16 villager cycle, a new smug should move in at a point meaning you will get different smugs if you understand what i mean. there are only a few smugs [less than other personalites, anyway] so it shouldnt be too hard.
imo just try not to get smugs at all even if you're aiming for 1 of each personality, other personalites are much better and the smugs suck [thats my opinion].

guys keep in mind if you are reserved for a #2 villager you have to wait till i reset unless i go past the 16 villager cycle. I cant have 2 villagers twice unless i get them on my 2nd copy.
