How about some water-related community projects... like a shanty shack on the beach run by an NPC who sold squid soba and lemonade and was only open in the spring-fall. That's probably way too much to ask tho. Um. Maybe like a grain silo to make a farm look, and a small windmill. Or like a bus station stop that would keep you and other villagers from getting wet. Or more playground equipment like those giant penguins I've seen a number of times on anime tv. Or as an island project (o0o0o0o!!) do giant beach umbrellas and lounge chairs and towels on the sand. And SAND CASTLES.

Because if you can buy the signposts to choose where your neighbors are placed you can theoretically only have a single neighbor.

I'd love a lemonade stand or vending machines or something that will let you carry drinks around like you can with coffee. How about a gym-like area for the jock characters or an ice cream shop?

A fishing ledge. It can be as simple as the litter ledge the gyroid stands on when you plan a bridge. Just gives you a little more oomph in fish catching.

I wouldn't want only one neighbour but if I could place 10 signs or however many villagers her there are then I would. Heck, if I could only place one then I'd take it. Having no signs signs sounds like its going to be a real pain in backside.

I'm actually surprised that they didn't bring all of the e+ decorations over. It seems like a lot of people would enjoy the Yoshi's egg decal in their town. You could actually do some pretty cool Nintendo themed public work projects. Like a little Pikmin garden, or a thwomp. They would just be for decoration of course, but it could still be pretty cool.
