Hello everyone I just got a PDF copy of Prima's New Leaf guide and want to know if it was a waste of $10? I have not brought a "guide" to a game since Super Metriod in the early 90's when I was 12. What do you all Think?

in my personal opinion, buying guides is always a waste of money since the information is always available for free online and is usually really easy to find. there are advantages of course to a physical copy being that you don't have to rely on the internet for your gameplay and you can go outside and still get your guidance but that's sort of what smartphones are great at if you ask me. it's great that you support writers though but any and all of the information in guides like that are always free online, the only downside being from sometimes multiple sources.

I used my guide a lot when i first got it. It's easier for me to look through a book than to try to find everything online. That's probably just me though. I don't own a smart phone, but I can see how others would find it more useful than a guide book. Also, my tablet freezes when I enter certain sites, so the guide comes in handy.

Cool thanks for the replies folks. I got it because it had/has a wealth of info and like some of you said sometimes I hate going on line looking for certain things and have to go through multiple sources.

I bought it to have an offline catalog, but I've found a lot of mistakes in mine. However, I have one of the first books to come out. If you just bought it recently then maybe they've fixed some of the errors. (I heard from someone that they've corrected mistakes for subsequent printings, but I'm not sure.)

I don't regret buying mine. However, based on my copy, I feel like this guide is really basic and leaves out a ton of information that's easily found online. Like hair color. It doesn't even mention you can change hair color or what answers get you what color you want. It gives a list of villagers and doesn't even tell you what personality they are. And some villagers missing, named wrong, or from previous games. The coffee guide is needlessly complex and contains lots of errors. I ended up making my own coffee guide based on thonky that only takes up two pages as opposed to the guide's TEN pages.

Overall, it's best for it's event list and item catalog. It has great presentation, but the guide is really weak on the informational side.

I have the physical copy of the Prima Guide. I use it mainly for the furniture guide. I look through to see what pieces I want to put in my house, since they all have pictures. That's basically it, though. Everything else I use the AC app or search online. The Prima Guide does have a fair few mistakes but it's still a decent resource.

So is it worth it? Depends on how much you'll use it and why you want it.
