Preventing afk timeout

I have seen many people leave their gate open and go afk but how do you keep the game from timing out? I tried once and then the game timed out and the dodo code stopped working. I was going to leave my gate open for a friend to pick some stuff up(best friends not dodo code in this case) but then i remembered about the timing out thing. I ended up waiting for her to come over. How do yall keep your gates open/game from timing out while afk? Thanks

Keep your switch plugged in so the battery doesn't drain out over time. The screen will get a bit dark after not being used for like 5 minutes. The only thing that could happen while your AFK is if your Internet somehow disconnects so you have to keep an eye on that. Also don't turn off the switch other wise that can cause "timeout" also.

Not to mention setting the Switch to NEVER going into sleep mode due to being left idle.

I don't know what's up with my Switch, I have all the settings set to never go to sleep, etc. However, I left it on watching DJ KK and after about 5 minutes it keeps fading! Is there any way to alter this? I've tried restarting several times. Thanks.

The switch screen automatically dims itself to prevent things like screen burn, but if you have it so it won't go to sleep, the screen will stay dim while the game stays active.
