Does everyone know that the first Animal Crossing on the game cube was NOT called POPULATION GROWING, but simply ANIMAL CROSSING! No subtitles! :-O

P.S. check out the title on the disc itself!

Sorry about that! Call it what you like people! The game remains the same! ?v?

does it really matter what the game's called?

If I want to call it Animal Crossing: Population Growing then I will.

Indeed, it was not. All you have to do is look at the side of the boxart, where "Population: Growing!" is not. (And for those calling it Population Growing, note that it was actually "Population: Growing!")

It was never meant to be a subtitle in any way, shape, or form. It's merely a decoration on the logo imitating old style town signs, nothing more.

However, I do see why people want to call Animal Crossing something more than Animal Crossing, since now we know Animal Crossing as a series. You know, like how we call the Playstation the Playstation 1, even though it never had the "1" in its title. Still, I see no reason to refer to it as "Population: Growing!". It's a lot more hassle than just calling it Animal Crossing GCN, or "the GCN version".

Yet I still find it funny how we have no problem calling Super Smash Bros., Super Smash Bros. 64. You know, it has a very similar thing to Animal Crossing, it could be called "Super Smash Bros. Duke it Out!" I see no reason why we don't just be consistent and call Animal Crossing, Animal Crossing GCN.

It's not called Population Growing, but it doesn't bother me that people call it that.

I'm still going to call it Population Growing to differentiate between all the titles. I hate shorting things to single letters like 'GCN' so I won't ever call it "animal crossing GCN" ...also GCN doesn't make sense to me because there is no 'n' in GameCube. And if that N stands for 'Nintendo'... xD oh god. That is so stupid. If that were the case it should be NGC because I don't know anyone who calls it the "GameCube Nintendo" instead of "Nintendo GameCube." Then again I never met anyone who felt the need to make sure we knew that Nintendo made the GameCube in the first place...

I really don't understand why people are getting so wound up about it. You know what I'm talking about, I know what I'm talking about, so I don't quite see the problem?

I'm not sure why, either. However, that's always been the abbreviation for the Gamecube, so I've stuck with it.

Honestly, I'm not sure why I get wound up about it, either. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that there is a misconception that it actually is a part of the name, and also the fact that it's so clearly not a part of the name that it bothers me.

Well I'm sorry my use of it bothers you. Still not gonna stop doing it because I like using Population Growing more than calling it 'Animal Crossing' since every game in the series has that in its title. My OCD doesn't like going "New Leaf", "City Folk", "Wild World", "Animal Crossing".

Technically speaking, it could be considered a subtitle. After all, there was a game called Animal Crossing for the Nintendo 64, along with Animal Crossing+ and Animal Crossing e+, so calling it ACPG could be useful to differentiate.

This. If you say Animal Crossing I imagine you're solely referring to the N64 version, and I prefer ACPG over ACGC the same way I prefer ACNL over AC3DS.

But the N64 game was never called Animal Crossing. "Animal Forest" would refer to the N64 game.

Population: Growing is just part of the design on the sign in the logo, just like "Welcome to..." is.

I call it AC:GC I don't care what everyone else calls it and I really don't see how what other people call something can bother someone else.

Like If I call my subway, subzee. How does that affect other people?

I'm gonna call AC:NL......AC:TBSE. Thats "Animal crossing the best **** ever." Yup.

I know, but when does anyone ever say AF. xP And I always interpret Animal forest as the Japanese version.

I do understand it's not the official title but it has always been ACPG to me and everyone here knows what you are referring to when you say it.

Honestly, it bothers me when people call it that. :lemon:

Also when people called ACNL "Jump Out" even after the English name was announced. I don't think anyone does that anymore though.

first off, this is a very poor argument. The game "Spyro: Ripto's Rage (a.k.a Gateway to Glimmer in the UK) claims itself "Spyro 2" on the side.

So, is animal Crossing called "Animal Crossing: Population Growing"? Of course not. However, that doesn't mean people should be chastised to referring to it as "Population Growing" to differentiate it from the newer entries. Personally, I call it Animal Crossing Gamecube. That sounds even stupider. People have opinions that disagree with yours, OP. I'd learn to deal with that.

Apparently it's Not "So Clear" or else people wouldn't mistake it. Not trying to Sass you just trying to make you understand where I'm coming from. I Didn't realize that it was just a Decoration for the Logo. Though I played this game back a long time ago and Back when I was 7ish I'm not gonna remember that, that well anyway. It's not a Big Deal to me. Though I do refer to it as Population: Growing!

To me when someone says "Animal Crossing" I think they are talking about the series in general. I prefer to specify by adding whatever helps tag the game. In this case, either Population: Growing (PG) or Gamecube (GCN). So acpg or acgcn. Just as we tag all the more recent ones acww, accf, & acnl.

Who cares if someone calls it population growing, at least when you call it population growing people know which one you are talking about. And I always thought that was it's subtitle to be honest.
