I do see the commercial use of the day by companies, but I also see an opportunity given by the day to do something nice for people. It's true that you can and should show your your appreciation to your loved ones outside of Valentine's Day, but Valentine's day just gives an extra touch. And hey, if you don't like it, then just don't. There's no holiday that everybody likes.

Valentine's Day is the day where I hide in my room all day watching anime to forget the fact that today's a holiday. ;u;

I put that I find it awesome, even though I don't pay much attention to it as I'm single.

Same here except with alternative rock music.

I think Valentine's Day is great if you have a SO or even if you have a great group of friends. I have the latter but I still hate Valentine's Day for the media, marketing groups and extra couples around me that feel the need to be...extra~

Eh, it's alright. I don't hate it, but I definitely don't love it. When you give bae a gift but you say the wrong thing, it screws up your relationship, so it's not on the list of favorite holidays.

But on the other hand, it proves and disproves all those ships that you secretly think about. And it even makes some of them come true.

its the only time of year my mom lets me buy candy
i just say it's for school even tho i'm in high school and i take it and leave it in my locker lol

It doesn't bother me. I don't see why a lot of people make a big deal out of it, because you know, if you want to give someone a gift to remind them that you love them and care about them (not necessarily in a romantic way), you can do it any day of the year, and ultimately that's more special I would think. I think I appreciate it more when my friends go out of the way to do little kind gestures for me just on any random occasion.

I've never celebrated Valentine's Day anyway. I think once though me and my friend sent each other hats as gifts on TF2 before on V Day. that's true love right there <3

ANYWAY. Overall - it's an overrated holiday and people shouldn't get upset about feeling lonely on such a commercialised holiday because no doubt there are lots of people out there who love you.

GET AWAY FROM ME GIRLS! I DON'T WANT LOVE!!!

*Cries*

But not you guys. ;)

Overall, I just think its meh.

I don't mind it but I find myself wishing I didn't have to really celebrate it. Maybe I just want a year off since I've been doing something every year since like junior high.

I would say Valentines day actually diminishes the value of whatever you give/do for somebody. Whatever you do will just be kinda 'meh' (or at least not as great a response as any other day), because it's expected and you kind of "had to".

Like, literally, pro tip, whatever you were going to do for your 'Valentine', don't. Keep hold of whatever you were going to give them for a few months and just give them some gas station flowers and a tube of Pringles for Valentines day.
In 2 months, when you give them the gift you were gonna give them for Valentines day, it will mean so much more and the 'meh' will instead be "tnk u bby! u r da bst! 2nite i wil sux ur dix!""

The candy made around Valentines Day is great. Other than that it's just like any other day to me.

When I was younger they made a much bigger deal about it; in school they'd ask us to buy/make Calentines for everyone in the class and by the end of the day everyone had a card from everyone and approximately half of the cards came with candy.

They don't do it anymore, partially because "ZOMFG U CANT GIVE OUT CANDIES WE NED 2 KEP TEH CHILDRUN HALTHY"
And yet they serve the most garbage hot lunch.

I've never had a girlfriend on Valentine's Day so it's always just been another day for me.

I hate it. And I've been in a long-term relationship now for 14 years.

The problem is it's pointless. Why do you need a special day to tell someone you love them? And all of the pink... It's just so cheesy. It's such a fake holiday.

Doesn't bother me, I think it's a great opportunity for people to go out and have fun with their SO but again one doesn't really need an excuse to make a day extra special for their soul mate. If anything Facebook is fun on the 14th.

Plus you get nice deals at shopping sites and fast food restaurants.

I'm neutral on it. It's cute to see other people get gifts from people who care about them, but there's nothing really special about the day either.

its great because afterwards, chocolate goes on sale

^ Yup!
Not to mention I love going to the store and buying these GIANT stuffed animals that have love stuff on them, so cute <3 I've never participated in anything though.
