"Fury Swipes, now!" Pansage runs up to Lillipup(?) and uses Fury Swipes.

"Lily, dodge it!" I shouted, and she jumped back, only being his once from the fury swipes, which didn't do very much damage. "Now, take down!"

"Did ya really think using that was the best idea, not only did I take damage, you took some damage as well...Potion!" I give Pansage the Potion.

Lily barked in agreement.
"And don't think that we're going to lose just because you have potions! Lily, Bite!"
I always did take anything competitive seriously, so I wasn't planning on losing to the first gym leader on my journey!

Pansage's health was in the yellow. I didn't have anymore Potions. "Use Vine Whip!" Pansage used Vine Whip.

Hearing Aurora cheering for me made me smile. She'd been like my personal cheerleader since we were young, supporting me in whatever I did, and I appreciated that.

Lily's health dropped to about health, but it wasn't over yet. We were about equal.
"Lily, Bite again!"

Pansage's HP was low enough to where the girl's Lillipup was the obvious winner, but I still refused to give up, like any gym leader. "Pansage, Fury Swipes again!" Pansage used Fury Swipes. "My last challenger was a boy with an Oshawatt...he won...that was a wake-up call to step it up...I refuse to give up! If I lose, I will learn from this defeat...if I win, I'm just better...It doesn't matter either way though! I will become a pro no matter what!"

Fury swipes chipped away at Lily's health, but she could still keep going.

I walked on deep in the route, and caught a Blitzle. I leveled that one up to level 15 like the others, except for Darumaka who was level 20. I looked at my reflection in the lake, with my Lillipup beside me. Wow...this is amazing... I sat by the river, moving my hand through Lillipup's fur. I wasn't sure what I was going to nickname it. I'd get around to it at some point. The water was very clear. The sort of pet I had took a sip from the lake, and spit it out in my face. I got pretty angry, but the Pok?mon nudged my left arm in a sort of guilty manner. "It's okay", I told her, attempting to be comforting. If I was going to be doing this with her, I would at least try to be a bit open. I promised myself that at the beginning, just the day before, my journey started.
