So, I have plot reset nine out of ten villagers. Some took a while, some were easy, whatever. But my tenth villager has taken me several days now and, worst of all, there is ONLY ONE PLOT that is available for them to move to. One plot, the rest is covered with qr code, and the plot where the moving out villager is the day prior.

So, every single time, for hundreds and hundreds of resets, the plot will be where the last house was. Every time, without fail. I'm starting to wonder now if it's actually impossible to use the plot I had in mind, but it doesn't make sense because there are no pwps, no buildings near it, and although it's close to town square and the river, there is a bumper of 2 spaces on each side. I've been resetting for it to move JUST ONCE for days. Days! But the freaking villager just won't move there. I'm ready to toss my 3ds out the window, as this is my LAST reset and it's taking so long that I'm not able to play at all. I'm really hoping that I don't need to let them plot here, wait for them to move out, and cover it up. Now I'm worried that, if I do that, a plot won't show up at all!

Here's a pic of the plot I'm trying to get them to move to, btw.

I'm curious. I see that you have a villager house next to the town plaza on the right. Do you know how many spaces are there between the plaza and the house?

I was under the impression that they were identical (the qr path covers town square and not beyond). Here's a pic in case you see something I didn't. I can't seem to find anybody who's had a similar experience. It's incredibly frustrating because it's the last one lol, and I just can't see any reason why this would happen.

@Candy83

Really? Even when there's only one other plot? I mean, one or two of them took quite a while, but this is a whole new level of wtf haha. With my neuroticism, I don't have the option to give up, haha!

It's kinda hard to tell how many spaces because of the path XD I wanna know because I have a hunch that you need more than two spaces to build/plot a house or pwp next to the town plaza. I had Molly as my starting villager before and she used to live on the left of the town plaza (can't remember how many spaces in between though). After she moved out, I tried placing a PWP along the area, two spaces away from the plaza but Isabelle didn't let me until I moved about 3-4 spaces, I can't remember the exact number. I might be wrong though.

How about try moving the plot one more space to the left (as in one space close to the river instead of two spaces as seen in the first picture)?

Yes I second this. You need more space than just 2 between a villager house and the plaza.

You can check if you time travel to the previous day, and try to build a fountain where the plot is. If Isabelle says it's too close to the plaza, then you have your answer.

That's an excellent idea, I'm going to try that. It's bizarre because I'm counting two spaces on each side for both of the houses (one space for the light path, one for the bush). If I need to put it towards the river one more, I might go crazy trying to replot everybody again haha! I'll see if the fountain works, and if it doesn't, thank you all for saving me many hours, lol.

This is probably the most convenient way to check.

Try every possibility if you can build one there. If not, well XD

You're welcome! Good luck ^_^

Well, I have interesting findings. I double checked and kicked up my paths, kyle's house on the right is indeed 2 spaces away, no issue. On the left side, the problem side, I can't place a fountain, but it's actually 'further/ from the town square than the other side. So, in essence, the actual town square is larger on one side than the visual cue, and it's screwed my town layout and wasted a ton of my time, lol. Welp, thanks for the suggestion!

Yikes that sucks.. The town square really is such a waste of space for what it is. Hope it all works out in the end. At least now you know the fountain trick for next time!

Ah well, that's probably it. There might be a part of the stone pavement on the left that's not too visible that still probably counts as part of the plaza or whatever. Hopefully, you can still work it out. Maybe you can move Kyle in the southern part with the rest of your villagers (if you have amiibo). Either way, his house location doesn't look too bad even if he's only the one living on top of the map. It's still not that easy to plot reset so you've done a great job plotting the majority of the houses :)

Unfortunately, there is no more space on the bottom- it's completely developed, and I'm not happy with any other plots. I can't believe a visual cue being wrong with town square is going to make me uproot everything I've built and replot everyone. >n< I think I might have to put this game back down for a few months. When I literally just completed my Amiibo collection lol.

Thanks for the fountain trick- this is a good example as to why planning is so important.....

Well, tbh. If I were in the same situation, I'll probably give it one last chance to try to put all the villager houses (lined up or whatever, as long as they're all there) in the south part and rearrange the flowers, bushes and pwps since I feel it won't take that much time especially when I have all of their amiibo cards. It's up to you though.

If it makes you feel any better, I've experienced the same thing with a plot that had literally already had a house on it earlier in the game with no new PWPs around it and the same houses in the section of town. :/ Stupid Ganon just had his heart set on destroying my crops (of course it was Ganon that was the trouble maker!)

I hadn't had any problems at all with QR plotting prior to the second welcome amiibo update. Right after we had the initial update, I was able to plot 20 villagers successfully by blocking off everything except the original villagers plot and where I wanted them and 0 failures. Since the second update however, I've only had 1 successful QR-blocked move-in, 1 semi-successful (It wasn't where I wanted, but was close enough / I forgot to block off an area) but 5 completely failed plot-resets using the same method. The villagers just seemed determined to destroy my paths and qr grass. It's gotten so frustrating that I'm about to just strip all the patterns from the town and go completely natural (this is the only town where I can't just hack-move villagers and the layout is super frustrating to work with)!

Ahaha, wow! I guess we all have our stories! It took me about 2 weeks real time to get my villagers where I wanted them. Good ol' Kid Cat chose the perfect spot on the first try. After going over my town a bunch of times, I just couldn't tear the bottom apart, especially since it's eight cats and two dogs, and I didn't want the northern part of town to be a ghost town. I hate to admit, but I looked up hacking instead of rage quitting and changed one acre. Literally nothing else, but I got myself one more square on that side, and that was all I needed. My town is still 100% legal, but I can fit a house on that side, and I can finally enjoy my game. However, I will never admit it again that I've ever touched such a thing. ;)

I guess its the spacing issue - but there is another contributing possibility - there was a thread on here a while ago (years possibly) which said that there is a limit to the number of houses that can occur in any one acre, and that limit was low or non existent in acres which included a public building or plaza - I'll search for the link but I'm sure other posters will remember it as well.

This may be the post I'm thinking of: http://www.belltreeforums.com/showt...villager-plot-resetting&highlight=guide+acres
