Please help me choose my villagers and mayor name!

hi! i've started planning my second town in my free time, and i'm conflicted on what i should do for basically everything. i'm super indecisive if you can't tell lol, and i'd be really happy if you could help me decide!

town theme- natural with a mystical-ish twist (it would be a little less pronounced but it'd be there)

mayor name- i'm debating between lucy, emily, aerial, and aria (credit to kittencat) but if you have any other ones, let me know!

villagers- okay i have no clue what to do on this one, most are (insert villager here) or (insert villager here), thank you so much for helping!

lucky or stitches (lazy dog / cub)
freya (snooty wolf)
tangy (peppy cat) (i'm dead set on her haha)
bruce or chief (cranky deer / wolf)
marshal or pietro (maybe zell?) (smug squirrel / sheep / deer)
kiki or merengue (normal cat / rhino)
mira or phoebe (uchi rabbit / phoenix)
ankha or diana or blaire (snooty cat / deer / squirrel)
static (cranky squirrel)
bam or bill or poncho or kid cat (jock deer / duck / cub / cat)

i'm not one for having every personality in my town, but i'm trying to do this more with this one. i like having repeat personalities of every one but lazy, and you can see the villagers i have in my first town down below and i don't think i want two of them!

I really like the town theme idea!! I recently restarted my own town and I'm going for a natural/"mori kei"-esque sort of look.

For your name, I really like Emily or Aerial. The name Emily seems to be derived from the roman word "aemulus" meaning rival (thinking of this, it kind of makes me think that would be a good name for a pokemon rival, haha!). Aerial means existing, operating, or happening in the air, or if you're going for a variation of Ariel which means "lion of God" in Hebrew. I'm sort of thinking either way, Aerial would go better with your nature theme!

For your villagers:

I think Lucky is really cute (but I have a soft spot for dog villagers). However, many people really seem to like Stitches. They both seem to have a vaguely horrific theme, so I guess it would really depend on if you prefer dogs or bear cubs!

I've had Zell as a villager and he's really sweet! I think he or Marshal would work well with your theme (I personally am not super fond of Pietro).

I personally prefer Merengue, but she has a cooking sort of theme going on so if you're dead set on that nature theme Kiki might be a little more fitting.

I currently have Mira as a villager and I'm not super duper fond of her, but if you like her I can let you know when she's moving out or something (I'm sure someone would be selling her before I even get there because I don't really time travel or anything, but the offer stands lol)! However I love the fantasy-themed villagers and I think Phoebe would be a great choice.

Out of the snooty villagers, Diana is sooooo cute! I also like Ankha but it seems like she's really popular (I've seen her name around the forum a lot).

For the jock villagers, Bam is super cute but I have a soft spot for jock bear cub villagers so Poncho is also really cute.

I guess I didn't really give a lot of definitive votes one way or the other, but I hope my participation helped a little xD

Lucky-Great design, i feel like dog villagers perfect the lazy personality.

Mira- I have her and she is my only from my original 10 left , she is super sweet and funny.

Blaire- I wold choose Diana but you already have a pink snooty. think Blaire would be better

I like Merengue a little more than Kiki but Kiki would be better for a natural theme.

Pietro- He's the funniest most awesome smug, I definitely reccomend him. Marshal is cool too but that would be quite a few squirrels

-Honestly most of these villagers aren't very natural themed to me, if anything i'd say it'd be more modern themed with all the colorful and unique villagers with costume like appearances. Don't get me wrong , the more unique colorful vilagers are my favorites as you can see. I love natural themed towns too, especially when they're very foresty and have the little bus stop and log benches. But honestly I think your old lineup of villagers does a better job at it, minus Chrissy and Francine. And Emily is a nice name.

thanks, that makes a lot of sense! i don't really mind if my villagers don't correlate to my theme, and my current town is just a mish-mash of natural and whatever i like. i'll probably change them up a bit so that the villagers that are options that fit the natural theme better will fit in, but i like the idea of tangy being a fruit in a natural town if that makes sense? it'll be even funnier if the town fruit is an orange XD maybe i'll do a mix of mystical and natural to make villagers such as freya and ((potentially)) merengue. my personal favorite species are squirrels and wolves so i don't mind have three or four haha i want a full town of just them one day!

You should go with Emily as your character's name because it's my middle name.

I like the idea of clover-stone paths. I think lots of cedar trees and a simple colour scheme work nicely as well (blue and white flowers would be nice... I wouldn't use purple, pink, orange, or yellow).

PWP ideas... a zen garden would be a nice touch somewhere in your town. You could make an alternate character or two and leave them in tents to create a campground somewhere in your town as well (near the river, perhaps)?

I definitely think your villagers should have a natural feel to them as well (if you want to follow the theme to a tee, that is). Here are my recommendations:

All of these villagers have neutral colour schemes (except Lyman, but he represents clovers) and could dwell in a forest(?). I tried to avoid the "traditional Japanese" (Not sure of the name for that sort of theme? Like Kabuki and whatnot.) characters, but included Coco because she's a gyroid and gyroids appear naturally after rain? I don't know. xD I did repeats of every personality except lazy as you mentioned above (and snooty). Personally, I like having at least one of every personality type in my town & each villager to have a different species, but that's just me.

My town is a mish-mash of my favrites too, I love forest themed towns, especially when its raining in the dream town and it's all very natural looking with clover and stone paths and natural or just sorta woodsy lookng pwps. I think i'd still take Pietro over Marshal, and yeah tangy's deign is hilarious, good luck with the new town.

Aria and Emily both sound like lovely names for a mayor! As for the animals, I'd pick some that look natural and that would actually appear in a forest. I thought of animals you would see in a north american temperate or boreal forest, so I went through the wiki's villager list with that in mind. Most of these aren't on your list, but I figured I'd share anyways just in case it's useful.

For a jock: Bill the duck or Sparro the bird seem like good fits. Snooty: Amelia the eagle, Blaire or Pecan the squirrels. Normal: Fauna the deer, Lily the frog, Maple the cub, or Sally the squirrel. Peppy: Dottie or Ruby the rabbits, Penelope the mouse, or Twiggy the bird. Uchi: Deirdre the deer or Paula the bear. Cranky: Apollo or Avery the eagles, Chief the wolf, or Grizzly the bear. Lazy: Cole the rabbit, Drake the duck, or Erik the deer/Moose.
