Ah thanks. I'll keep searching to find a Riolu that is at least neutral in both attack and special attack.
Are there many people left who haven't beaten Cheren? I should have the area finished by the end of today.

I got a relaxed Riolu! It and Oshawott are level 11 right now. I'm about to challenge the gym now then I'll stop.

If I may, I'm personally going to recommend Tepig. I personally found Serperior difficult to use late-game.

I found Serperior hardest to use when it evolved into Serperior because of its lack of moves. Afterwards, as you get access to moves like Dragon Tail, I found it to be getting slightly better. Certainly better than in Black/White though.

Good luck and have fun! I just beat Cheren after a few tries, hehe. Despite him sending out Pidove last, that was easiest to dispatch especially with Mareep.
Lillipup was the toughest but I used Thunderwave on it which helped as well as a leer from someone else. Patrat was a little troublesome but Lillipup was the worst. At least there was no Watchog though!

Whose, Cheren's? He was level 12-14 for me I believe although I'm on Challenge Mode. Idk if that means higher levels for gym leaders or an extra Pokemon or both.

I'm worried what I'll do about Roxie - Oshawott would be normally effective and Riolu will be not very effective. I might just train up Mareep a bit more for now. I know she has a Venipede or Whirlipede though so maybe I should train Pidove for a bit instead though...

On normal mode, his Pokemon are level 11 and 13 respectively. Level 14 usually works for me, but just to be safe, you might want to train up to level 15 or 16. Cheren is a pain to fight.

Lol yeah, Magnemite was in my team for Black 2 and I don't want to use it again so I don't want to waste the experience it earns. I might have more fun training my other Pokemon and beating her with them though, who knows?

Don't your pokemon stop obeying at level 10 though?

No, I think it's quite a bit higher for the first gym badge. Maybe level 20 or 30? Normally they level limits are very reasonable and you should be fine grinding a lot. Most cases you'd be ok unless you're using something like 20 or 30 levels higher than the gym lol.
