Playing around in GIMP again (render + simple animation)

So I was using the chibi maker thing again and I made this adorable little guy:

The image, of course, didn't start out transparent - I had to do the same trick I used with my "Sailor Senshi" character (only this time I didn't accidentally erase anything!), and I used this site to make the little speech bubble (+this site to put the two images together).

After that, because I enjoy taking peoples avatars and putting moustaches on them using picmonkey, I made this:

I wanted the exact alignment, though, so instead of taking the image without the speech bubble and adding a new one, what I did was erase the text "NOT A GIRL">made a new bubble that said "MOUSTACHE">copied the text from that image>pasted the text on the blank speech bubble and VOILA! Mr. Strawberry is now saying "MOUSTACHE".


I didn't stop there, though - nope. After that, I took both images (the one with the blank bubble and the one with the moustache bubble) to GIMP, and turned them into this:

I still don't understand how making GIF's work using GIMP, to be completely honest - I was just fiddling around until something decent came out. LOL

Wow, I just noticed that the shadow under the speech bubble doesn't show up in the GIF.. I wonder why.

Haha well I imagine him to be pretty 'petit' and small framed, with pretty much zero "curve" to him. (for some reason Ed from Cowboy Bebop is the first thing that comes to mind when trying to think of a character whose body type is similar to his - only instead of being a girl being mistaken for a boy, it's the other way around, for him. lol)
I can also see his dress sort of just.. hanging off of him, haha. Like, there's obviously a little space he's unable to fill in, because the dress wasn't exactly designed for his frame.


Also I've decided to give him the name "Ichimaru Gohan", with "Ichimaru" being the family name and "Gohan" being his given name. (I picked those names simply because Ichimaru Gohan = Ichigo. That way his name is sorta-kinda strawberry related, without it actually being Ichigo)

I even made a quick image with his name underneath.
Ichimaru is written in kanji, while I decided to write Gohan in hiragana (it just looks nicer that way, to me)

Idek why I'm bothering naming him, though, other than the fact that I think he's cute lol
