Player visitors interacting w/ your villagers?

Do you let others interact with your villagers?

  • Yes, and we all sing kumbaya together!

  • Umm, no way, say hello to my barbed wire D:

Literally all my villagers talk about is my characters burying bells, and sometimes finding fossils if I'm very lucky. I LOVE it when they talk about visitors for a change.

I don't think this makes a difference at all. If you don't want the visitor dialog you shouldn't let people come over, it doesn't matter if they talk to the villagers.
But I don't mind, there's so many repetitive dialog, so it's something else to add to the mix. And it eventually fades away. It's not worth it not letting people see your island because of that

I love when people talk to my villagers. I'll take any little bit of extra dialogue I can get.

it really doesn't bother me for people to talk to my villagers and I really dont know why anyone would care tbh
your villagers are gonna talk to you about player123 from island456 whether they spoke to them or not

For me it's not that I mind them talking about recent visitors, I just didn't want to let people talk to them if months later they would still be asking me about those visitors. If they don't then it's fine.

It doesn’t matter if they interact with them or not. If someone drops something and leaves after 30 seconds, all my villagers won’t shut up about user123 from deeznutsisle.

Yah, my villagers mainly ask about people who were there super quick and left. I don't mind if people chat with them- in fact, I encourage it, especially if it's a less popular villager (who knows? maybe they'll see them and realize they love them!) Besides, as others have said, they don't talk about them very often and don't obsess over them. I occasionally just get a "Hey, have you heard from ____ from ____ recently? I wonder what they're up to." and that's it.

I'm locking this now, some of these replies are starting to sound condescending and showing they didn't fully read my first post. I got my answer from the people who actually did so thanks to them for the feedback!

Yeah but the thing is, talking to them does not influence the dialog. A villager of yours may talk about anyone that stepped foot in your island, even for 30 seconds just to trade. But definitely not for months.

Well, apparently I can't lock it anymore. Either way I said all I needed to say.

Thanks to anyone who said they'll forget eventually even if they meet the visitors! That was my doubt.

Ike mentioned you already from yesterday btw. He said it was really cool I had someone from your island who cared enough to "hang out" and that he didn't have anyone from there who did that. We need play dates in this game now!

😅

Is that a Mariah Carey reference?
Wait aw why does that make me sad 🥺

I don't really ever have any random visitors come to my island, so I suppose the answer is no. I trade online so the people coming over just want to grab what they want for and then leave, which is perfectly fine with me.

since my villagers talk about any visitors regardless, i don’t really mind - typically people only come to my island for quick trades so they don’t even leave the airport area but people talking to my villagers isn’t a big deal for me aha

I don't think they remember forever. I usually only hear about player visitors once, and never again.

Honestly, I struggled to answer because I would rather not have players stop and interact with my villagers when we're trading with one another. I enjoy meeting and talking to new people, but when I trade with someone, I'd like for that experience to be focused on the trade, if that makes sense? It's not a strict rule of mine when I'm trading or anything, I'd just prefer that people I trade with not do 'extra' things like talk to villagers or wander my island. It'd be particularly frustrating when I'm conducting multiple trades and I have people waiting to get to my island to see someone stop and chat, because it means that I'm keeping others waiting.

But, if friends come over and whatnot, I'm happy for them to chat as much as they like!

I don’t mind at all! Makes me happy to see my villagers socializing even if it doesn’t really mean much. It’s the thought that counts!!
