Planted weeds do not affect rating?

I heard this before that the only weeds that affect your rating are those that have grown naturally and those that you plant do not impact your rating. Has this been confirmed?

I have a four star rated town and loads of weeds for decoration! I don't think it effects your rating.

I have a 5 star island and I have a ton of weeds. I planted 130 weeds in one day and a few more one week after that. Also, more weeds grew naturally since then.

Oh wow! I wish I would have known before I plucked every weed from my bamboo garden, I thought it added more character to it but I took them off because I thought it would hurt my ratings.

I think weeds do affect your rating, but it is so minimal you might as well ignore it.

I messed around with the island rating tool on Nook Plaza, and it looks like you get 30 development points if you have no weeds, and that reaches 0 if you have 1000 or more. Pretty easy to ignore if you make up for those elswhere.

I have tons of weeds, and I haven't even tried to keep up with the five star rating, but it hasn't dipped below five stars. I also have lots of furniture and flowers though.

I haven't seen any four-leaf clovers that you can wear, but there are weeds that do look like clovers. I mostly used my clovers for decorating outside, so I don't mind too much.

Strangely, I didn't bother plucking some weeds and I ended up getting 5-star as well.

I use to have weeds all over my town and it remained at 5 stars no matter how many more I planted. The only reason I removed them was b/c I prefer them short, and I didn't want to replant them every day.

I'm telling you I had soooo many weeds in my town, so if you're thinking about planting them, they shouldn't affect your 5-star rating.
